using wife/husbend to apply for cc and transfer points
I'm sure this is currently being done and even discussed, i wasnt able to locate the thread, but I have a few questions.
I think it makes sense for my wife and I to both apply for cards which we can transfer points; amex and chase sapphire. Since she could then transfer these points into my specific rewards account, airlines or hotel to build up and Max the points. Right?
However, is it possible for my wife to transfer points into my accounts for specific reward cards for airlines and hotels? If she applied for delta card or Hilton card etc, could she transfer the sign up bonus she received into my Hilton / delta accoutn? If yes, which programs can we do this and which programs we could not do this.
Any issues I should be aware of with this plan?
Thanks in advance for the advice/help.

There are many different airlines and hotel programs each has its own rules - all can be found in the program's own website.
You should go to the website of the program you are interested in, and read up the program rules - you will find the answers on most of your questions. It is better to read them up yourself than just rely on the posts which can give inaccurate info.

I'm not as experienced with the more technical aspects of the points game as I'm pretty new at this. However, is there a reason why you need to transfer your points, other than for ease of keeping track of them?
Unless you already have a ton of points in one program, and the amount that she would be getting is minimal in comparison, it isn't really necessary to combine them to use them. For instance, you could each book a seat on a flight using your own points, and for hotels you can each use your points for different nights of your trip. They don't all have to be coming out of 1 account.
Marriott Rewards is the only program that I know the specific rules for. With Marriott you can transfer points to your spouse at no fee, at the time of redemption. Meaning, if you are booking a stay and you need 100k points and you only have 80k in your account, you can transfer 20k from your wife's account, but no more.
Now there are ways around this, like with every program, and I have heard of people booking stays for a few months away, and transferring points from their spouse, and then cancelling the reservation when it gets closer to your stay. Usually the points will stay in the account they were transferred into.
I don't know if any of the other programs work this way. Hopefully more experienced posters can weigh in.
