Need help finding a creative way to use my Visa.

I have to pay a several thousand dollar tax bill at a local state office. I'd love to take advantage of this points opportunity. Unfortunately, they only accept Discover and MasterCard so our Visa won't cut it. They also accept money orders, cash, etc. Anyone have any ideas? Not looking to apply for a new card at this time so no churning. Are there prepaid cards I can buy? This is a Chase Freedom if that makes a difference.

Buy mastercard gift cards at your local grocery store. It will probably cost ~5.95 activation fee

Which will more than offset the value of the one point per dollar you would earn with Chase Freedom. You really need to apply for a MasterCard. Note that many Chase cards are available in a MasterCard version if you apply through mastercard.com.

Before you do this, make sure the state office doesn't charge a fee to use a Credit Card to pay the tax bill.
