What Card Do I Do Next?

Hey, completely new here. Got a question about credit cards as I only like to do one at a time since I worry about my credit (it's pretty good now, but I hear that too many applications screws it).

What card should I get next? I've already done AA-Citi card and United's Chase Visa...im at about 48k miles on AA and around 35k on United, maybe 4 points on Southwest, negligible on other airlines.

I've been lurking for a couple days and people seem to like British Airways current offer? How about Delta or Southwest?

First, welcome to FT. May your ride be enjoyable.

Second, numerous apps. will not "screw" your FICO score. It drops a few points with every new app. and then goes back up after a number (maybe 6 or more) of months. This assumes everything else in your financial life stays the same. Do some reading on credit.com and fatwallet.com forums for more info.

You can do the Business version of AA & UA. I'm sure you have SOME kind of business, right? Ebay seller? Amway? Chase has a SWA card that gives you 16 RR credits. Search on the SWA & MilesBuzz forums.

What airline do you fly most? That will guide you.

Didn't know BA had a great offer. DL makes it very hard to get "low" awards (25K in the US). But, having an extra 30K DL may help you.

Thanks for the welcome...I'm already learning!

Didn't know I could do a business card as well...holy moly, they really do just give it away, don't they? Looks like that 'lawn care' business I run might need a line of credit...

The thing with me flying is I just fly whatever is cheapest---being in St. Louis that tends to be American or SW, but 50k on BA or 45k on DL is still a roundtrip somewhere great (off-peak)...

I'm fairly satisfied with AAdvantage, Mileage Plus, and Rapid Rewards...maybe it's time to give SkyMiles a chance...

Can you really just make up a business? Are the business cards just tied to your own SSN or do they actually ask for proof that you have incorporated a business? I would also expect that you would then be required to file your taxes differently?

Citi has been known to ask for documentation of the actual business - especially in the last few months. Read the thread and you will see the change in philosophy.
