New Fare Structure

Recieved an email from copa this week outlining the new fare class features - https://www.copaair.com/en/web/gs/ne...6ULV74,5P0R7,1

TLDR: moving to the north american model of charging for everything. The basic fare no longer includes checked luggage and silver connectmiles members who purchase this fare class are not eligble for a comp upgrade.

id like to solicit some feedback from members. Generally speaking its not worth it to do mileage runs to hit another tier, however, I am 6 segments from gold and this will allow me to receive comp upgrades and checked luggage even if i purchase a basic fare next year. Since comp upgrades are the primary reason I credit my flights to copa, should i chase gold by doing a RT before the end of the year?

COPA has never been a great airline. Try booking a ticket and then cancelling it the same day - you will never get your money back. COPA is a third class airline who acts like they are running with the Big 3 US Airlines. I only took COPA as I had no other choice but if I had the choice I would catch United, American, delta or even Southwest now before getting on COPA plane.
