Copa Personal Device Entertainment

The new Copa app is promoting something called Copa Showpass to view entertainment on personal devices. I observed this on 2 recent flights, but no wifi network to be found. I haven't seen any mention of this in promotional emails I receive from CM. Has anyone successfully used this?

I am guessing this system is only on those shelved 737 Max, or other very new planes.

IIRC on long haul Canada PTY they never had a service like this (or wifi) and I doubt they ever would on short haul flights intra Central America for example. maybe you are right that's it's on the grounded Max or on the NG 737s to South America.

It’s for the MAX. They have WiFi to watch/stream movies etc, but there is no actual internet behind it

IIRC, all E190s have no IFE. Older (if not all) B737-700s will have overhead IFE. B737-800s will have PTV. Then only the MAX have Streampasss.

Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

Newer model of the 800 has PTV, the older one doesn’t (overheads only)

Thanks - I guess my question was re: 738's - does anyone know the ratio of overhead v. AVOD/streaming?

The Copa Fleet webpage shows what numbers of each model of aircraft there are. 737-800B has PTV, the rest of the 737s have overhead fold down screens. As seen there, the E190s have no entertainment. Supposedly the MAXs have Showpass. I have no idea what models CM may put in the air when they resume operations.
