Connection in CLE

Hi i'm flying from Denver to DCA through cleveland here in a month or so but with no delays i'm looking at only 36 minutes to connect. Better yet I fly a rj to DCA so I transfer terminals from C to D. What are my chances? And how do you get there? Terminal D looks like a blob all on its own according to the map i found online.

Thanks

It's very easy and well-marked. As long as you arrive on time and walk briskly you'll be just fine.

You should be fine. CLE is very easy to connect unlike some of the larger hubs. C to D is a two minute underground walk without the need to exit/re-enter security. And it is unlikely to snow in CLE in September... most years.

It can be a 10 walk from some parts of terminal C to terminal D but if you're on-time you will make it.

Remember some RJ flights also operate out of C, so you might luck out and have a much closer connection. I assume you are on a CO mainline flight from DEN-CLE, but RJ's also operate that route.

I wasn't aware of that - OUCH.

It should take you MAX 10 minutes to get from C to D. I've actually made it from security to just about the end of Terminal D in 10 minutes, but that was at a full sprint and it wasn't so pleasant.

30 minutes enough?

I'm getting really antsy about my flight home for Turkey Day on Wednesday; I'm flying PIT-CLE-GSP. I know the PIT-CLE will come into the back end of D (I think D-28 is the designated gate for the Q200 operations). I also will have a gate checked bag, so that will take a few minutes to retrieve. Now, if my ExpressJet connection is out of D, I should be fine. What I worry about is a connection out of very low C (there's an Express gate or two down there) or high C.

If you are a healthy adult who can move along there is no part of C-D that are more than 15 min apart.

You do have a couple of variables with the gate check, day before thanksgiving, etc, but I bet you'll be fine. At least I wouldn't intentionally alter an itinerary to avoid it.

In the back of my head, I know this is true, and I'd still rather take my chances with 30 minutes at Hopkins than with 1:15 at EWR. Still, the margin for error is so tiny, even a 10 minute delay could screw me. I guess I'm just being unreasonably nervous.

Whereas I would never fret a 30 minute connection at CLE, I would go postal on a 1.5 hour connection in EWR, especially if it were in the mid to late afternoon.

If it's any consolation, I'm flying from DEN to MHT in a couple of weeks. I had a choice between a 50-minute layover @ CLE or a longer one @ EWR, and I chose CLE without hesitation and with reasonable confidence. I wouldn't book an EWR connection with less than a 2.5-hour layover.

I have a rule: No tight connections out of cold-weather cities in late fall/winter/early spring when a deicing delay would cause a missed connection. You guys will probably be ok...probably.

Actually, my choices were this routing through CLE or United through Dulles, and I despise Dulles (especially the Express operation on Concourse A) with the fury of a thousand suns. However, if it were available, I would much rather have booked PIT-IAH-GSP for a wide variety of reasons-unfortunately, its not a valid routing.

Another 4.0 Performance for CO and CLE

Once again, CO's CLE operation shines. My PIT-CLE got to the gate 20 minutes early, and my connection was at the gate next door. Bravo.
