shenanigans with CO.com change ticket function
I hate that word btw, shenanigans.........
I have a ticket that I canceled and wanted to use it for a new flight
I go in and try to change the flights...it turns out that the computer offers me every option but the one I want..........all of them are more expensive btw (but thats not all.....since the schedules are not what I need)
I can buy a brand new ticket on co.com for 323 dollars sjo-dtw 8/13 flights 1485/1688 return on 8/20 flights 1589/1499.....fare classes are G and T
I call the elite line........I ask for those exact flights.......the fare classes are different....so that it ends up being 150 dollars change fee PLUS 580 something dollars for the fare difference....I explain...she says that the fare buckets I want are not available.........
ARGHHHHHHHHHH

This happens frequently. Reserve the reservation you would like on co.com (use the pay at the airport option). Once reserved, call co.com support and let them know you have credit from a cancelled flight you would like to use. They will 'combine' the new reservation with the old cancelled one and you will get the price you see online.

Thanks OPFlyer, your strategy worked perfectly, took 25 minutes on hold, 15 minutes of processing by the (very nice) phone agent who mutered a few "I cant believe it gave you this fare.....but it obviously did so we are going to honor it" and "there really are not any seats on these buckets......I am going to have to force them......"
all worked well in the end
all worked well in the end
