Help! Another Baggage ?
I will be traveling with my two teenagers to Las Vegas. I used mileage to try to upgrade to first class. When I did this they put us on a waitlist and changed the one itinerary to three separate ones. I have a CO mastercard so I would not have to pay for bags. Now that we are under three separate confirmation numbers will I have to pay for their bags? Doesn't seem fair if I do as I never paid before. Also at what point do you find out if you have been upgraded? Is there anything that I should be doing? I am new to all of this upgrading and reward travel. We go on a lot of vacations and the mileage has been building up so I thought for a five hour trip it might be good to upgrade. Thanks for any info.

As long as you were all together on the original PNR they can see that the PNR was split so you shouldn't have any problems when it comes time to checking bags.

Welcome to FlyerTalk!
In addition to the above advice, should you receive the upgrade you'll be entitled to three bags of up to 70 pounds each. At that point simply check your bags all in as yours rather than one per person and you wouldn't have to deal with the split PNR issues. That is dependent on your upgrade clearing prior to when you drop the bags at the counter, but that seems pretty likely.
