Losing Eastern was like the death of an old friend. It would MOST DEFINITELY be positive recognition.

Mine says member since '85, and my onepass number starts with BK.

My dad joined in the same year (probably for the same flight), but his onepass number starts AB. He lost his original card years ago; I still keep mine for nostalgia purposes.

I was one of those ETs and well remember the brown cards that purportedly held your phone number but in my case they had gotten it wrong. But they got my name right and the privileges that they laid on us exceeded those that are given to the highest level elite flyers nowadays.

I have many EA stories running from them bumping a first class passenger in YVR in order to give me a seat to $12 Shuttle flights right near the end after one of the walkouts. Too many stories for one post in one thread.

And then, for many years, when speaking to CO agents on the phone you knew that you had an old EA hand when your Gold Elite status would flash on the screen and the agent would say that they were sure that they could do this for an "ET."

I remeber flying Eastern out of YYZ, usually to Florida, but I think I also used to fly them to ABE on occasion (I think via PIT, but I might be getting mixed up with US who I also flew sometimes - I was just a kid).

I was actually trying to do a search to see if I could find an Eastern timetable (either print, or online version of the full print timetable) anytime from the mid-80's on, but never did. Would love to try and track some of the routes. Even thought of posting the question here to FT - but never really knew which forum to pose the question to. But now that there is this thread - I'll try here. Anyone know where to find a timetable?

In the "for what it's worth" column: do an eBay search like this - there's a good deal of EA stuff available there including timetables (at that link) from the 80s.

Who could ever forget the closing scene in Miami Vice season 2 episode 1 ("Prodigal Son") when Tubbs races to meet Crockett at EWR Terminal B to catch EAL flight 3 home to Miami.

I flew Eastern as a child from the old MCO, Orlando-McCoy Jetport to NYC, to LGA I believe.

A ex girlfriend was a obsessive Thrift Store addict and picked up a Eastern Airlines Work Shirt from the 70s? On the front it has a "International Assn of Machinists" Patch. Not sure what the 4 stars above the last name meant on the left chest, anyone know?

Family Ties

Both my grandfathers were long-term Eastern employees in Miami. Got out shortly before the bankruptcy.

I remember taking a flight from MIA-PBI for my 5th birthday. Think it cost $5 or so for the family fare. It was my first time flying.

The USA 3000 operating certificate is being looked at to support a return of the Eastern brand for some Florida/Caribbean vacation routes in conjunction with Apple Vacations.

Frankly if your business is trying to get snowbirds from the north down to Florida/the Caribbean makes sense to consider the Eastern trademark. Plenty of recognition among the 40+ crowd. Whether it's positive recognition is another story.
I wonder if they'd recognize my ET card? I still have it...
