No, I haven't used the miles option. I was saying that it has been there for me to exercise if I wanted. Personally, I don't see the benefit of burning 15k miles when I can wait for a free upgrade (fingers crossed). Per sbm12, he was saying that they would zero out the R bucket in an attempt to sell the miles option. I don't think they'll take the bait. I know I'm not.

ETA: I was wait listed because apparently I didn't clear at T-24.

I agree 100%, and was surprised if you were using miles, but some people have a lot and want to use them. There are 3+ R seats on each DTW-IAH flight as of now, magic 8 ball says looking good.

Got the upgrades at the gate.

Surprising for me, was that I got upgraded IAH-ATL in a 735 as a silver on an L fare.
