I agree with others. That middle seat on the 76 is great. My only issue (and this is also a problem with the side aisle seats) is that there is a lot of flex in the flooring which (at least I think) translates into more vibration in the seat when people (mostly FA's) walk by. Still I love the single seat on the 76 and I wish it were the same on other (DL) airlines.

BF is great, even in the middle seat, i sat in the window and aisle, but it is always to Hawaii. I liked my seat, and the middle ones looked funny to me, but people enjoy them.
I think all of us have been bumped sitting in a aisle seat at one time or another

CO BF on a 777 is 2-2-2, not 2-3-2 like most of the competitors. I personally prefer those middle two seats (either side is fine) because I can sleep w/o ever worrying about someone waking up and having to climb over me and if I decide I want to get up, I can at anytime without disturbing someone. I will always select one of these two seats if they're available, even if I'm travelling with someone I know.

CO Does not give complemenatry upgrades to Elites on International flights with a BusinessFirst Cabin..so there are seats that do go out empty..if nobody pays to upgrade..:-:

Last Saturday HKG-EWR almost everyone in BF had an empty seat next to them. I was 9D and as we were ready to depart FA came and moved me to bulkhead 8 window. Sweet. 15 hrs of sleep or almost.

The actual policy is that there are no complimentary upgrades on routes marketed with BF service. That is how the NRT-GUM routes are now EUA-able, as they are not considered BusinessFirst marketed, even though it is the BF cabin on the 767s. I believe they are marketed as Island Express service or something like that (it was embroidered on the headrests back in '06 when I was on the flight), though they probably show up on co.com as BF since it doesn't know any better.

Been seeing a lot of empties in BF on EWR-BCN this summer -- I think with the double-daily on CO (32 seats, ex-Pilot rest) plus AA's new 767 service (30 seats), plus DL's existing service (36 seats) there was just too much capacity for the demand. 98 daily seats, vs. only 52 last year an 88% increase. Mediterranean cruise capacity is only up about 20-25% vs. last year...
In any event, though, you really can't tell whether unsold seats (as measured on ExpertFlyer or the like) will go empty until shortly before departure when nonrevs get on the standby list. There were 5/16 booked for my return flight BCN-EWR the day before, but then 5 nonrevs got on (and cleared) the list, so 10 passengers, plus the crew rest.
I had an empty seat next to me for both directions. ^
