Upgrade chances

I recently was matched to Silver with CO from US. I plan on taking several trips to LAS next year to support my gambling habit (well not really, my wife's family lives there). What are the upgrade chances as a Silver flying out of CLE on a Sunday or Monday. I flew CO F 1 time and it blew US F out of the water.

Based on a quick survey of this coming Sunday and Monday, it appears that your chances would be much better on Monday:

[[KVS Availability Tool 2.9.1/Gold - Sabre: ITN/UK-ASB]
Code:
CLE Cleveland Hopkins Int'l OH US [KCLE]
LAS Las Vegas Mccarran Int'l NV US [KLAS]
MON 15 Oct 2007

Carrier Flight From Depart To Arrive A/C St Availability
--------- ------ ---- --------- ---- --------- ---- ---- -----------------------------------------
CO 481 CLE 09:00 LAS 10:27 0 A2 D2 Z2 R2 Y1 H1 K0 M0 N0 B0 O0 V0 U0 Q0
CO 581 CLE 12:45 LAS 14:11 739 0 A6 D6 Z6 R6 Y2 H1 K0 M0 N0 B0 O0 V0 U0 Q0
CO 681 CLE 17:05 LAS 18:42 738 0 A7 D7 Z7 R7 Y5 H5 K5 M5 N3 B0 O0 V0 U0 Q0

Than on Sunday:

[KVS Availability Tool 2.9.1/Gold - Sabre: ITN/UK-ASB]

CLE Cleveland Hopkins Int'l OH US [KCLE]
LAS Las Vegas Mccarran Int'l NV US [KLAS]
SUN 14 Oct 2007

Carrier Flight From Depart To Arrive A/C St Availability
--------- ------ ---- --------- ---- --------- ---- ---- -----------------------------------------
CO 481 CLE 09:00 LAS 10:27 0 A4 D4 Z4 R4 Y6 H1 K0 M0 N0 B0 O0 V0 U0 Q0
CO 581 CLE 12:45 LAS 14:11 739 0 A0 D0 Z0 R0 Y1 H1 K0 M0 N0 B0 O0 V0 U0 Q0
CO 757 CLE 21:05 LAS 22:36 738 0 A4 D4 Z4 R3 Y3 H1 K0 M0 N0 B0 O0 V0 U0 Q0

As you would expect. Of course, only a veteran of these runs could tell you for sure, but I like your chances a heck of a lot better out of CLE than out of EWR. LAS routes do tend to have higher percentages of leisure (read non-elite) pax than many other routes, so you ahve that going for you as well.

I've flown to LAS over a dozen times in the past few years. The best chances for the uprade are the early am flights (e.g. 6-8 am departures). Even so, as a Platinum, I've only had around a 40% hit rate on the upgrades with NW/CO in / out of LAS. Even with lots of leisure travelers, there are seemingly a lot of FC seats sold.

Monday to Wednesday LAS flights usually have lighter loads unless there is a holiday or major convention.
