Actually I've noticed that the exit row seatbelts are shorter than the regular row seatbelts. Maybe this is to keep unfit people out of those seats? Or I've just eaten too many Doubletree cookies lately.

Think about it: if there's a real emergency, you aren't going to have cooperative people around you. Lifting it over the row in front of you? Come on! If you went on this DO tour and did the simulated fire on the fire trainer 732, you know that the cabin filled with the densest smoke you've EVER seen in less than 10 seconds, and your visibility was less than a foot (forget looking for aislepath lighting while sitting - you won't be able to see it) you're going to get the h*ll off that aircraft as fast as possible. That plug is a goner - I'd try to remember to throw it forward off the wing, but its not getting tucked into 14A or F, no way.
Those aisle path lights were invisable. I leaned over and look and got hit by one of the FA's running by me.

The reason we were told for not tossing the door out is that it can get in your way while trying to exit/get off the wing and more importantly, it can puncture the wing. What's in the wing, the fuel tanks.

There is plenty not listed on the safety cards that you are expected to do in an emergency if you sit at the exit. The FA's will give you additional instructions if such a case is needed. Do people know about the safety line that acts like a hand rail that you have to attach to the wing?

It's a good thing they're not circular (like manhole covers).

Yes. At least I do, from looking at the safety card, and seeing the panel that covers it (it's only attached with velcro) on some aircraft.

And in regards to exit row hatches, let's face it. They have those things for federal safety rules and to make people feel better. You won't feel anything anyway.
Sorry, I am not the Mr. Chicken or Beef that you met.
