No, didn't hear anything.

But I think we might do okay going down there with the official-looking name tags they gave us at the DO. :)

And with all the official CO gear I bought in the company store at HQ I can pass for a CO employee. Even bought matching CO tee shirts for me and my DH. Isn't that just too cute:eek:

What I leaned TODAY...

Don't be late or show up early to the party so you won't miss Bacon Wrapped Quail. :p

There is an equivalent of Gordon's Galley at EWR. (learned Friday.)

The EWR equivalent is in a secured area though I believe..

After 9 PM they had a whole plate of it at the buffet table by the escalator. That's when I discovered the shrimp that I know was not there before.

The woman who ran the store was very nice and I spoke with her about this. She told me that the store is open to everyone. It is not intended to be a money-making operation. They do not advertise it to the general public. Anyone, however, is welcome to go down there.

Presidential Plus World Mastercard

As the OnePass forum was breaking up, I went up to Mark Sullivan - MD Loyalty Mktg - Custodian of OnePass and all partnerships- and asked about this card, stating that it didn’t quite come up to value for the money given the paucity of benefits, and would they consider increasing the number of flex miles given out; I noted that the AmEx Platinum card had things more worth the fee charged.

He agreed, but noted that the card was new and that Platinum had added benefits once it got going. He mentioned the Avis benefit as a good one, which I thought OK. Then he stated that there were new benefits coming down the line, including a hotel benefit that he thought folks would like; did not go into any detail. With my luck, it will be a Starwood thing, which won’t really do me any good.

We’ll see what develops.

1,000,000 miles

I have a bad hearing problem. Can someone summarize what LK said about an upcoming one-million mile recognition? I have nearly 3,000,000.

Here are some stuff I heard at the panel sessions which interest me and not in the main LK/JS Q&As:

I. Products (1st session):

Inflight:
- 3 of the 737-800s now have power front to exit rows. Others 737-7/8/900 will follow.

- All 41 757-200s should have new seats, power and AVOD in coach by October 2008. Some of the better old seats will be recycled in the 737 fleet, replacing some of those old, thin-padded ones. [Forgot the exact model number of those old seats.] The 739ERs will also have B/E Aerospace seats, same as the 752s.

PC:
- Las Vegas PC will open in 2nd Quarter of 2008.

Food:
- Nov 1 will see totally new FC menus.

- Whether meals are provided on flights are determined by average block time on that route. Not the specific scheduled duration of a particular flight.

- There are steam ovens on all 767/777s, as well as the new 787s. They also use chilled food carts.

II. Hub Airports (2nd session)

IAH:
- 5 more gates at B84 on Oct 20th, in additional to the 10 already in place and the 3 vacated by NW.

- Other improvements in B, like converting the south side satellites to linear terminals, are only in planning phase. Nothing confirmed yet.

EWR:
- They really will not be adding flights there. Only moving to larger planes.

CLE:
- I asked about the CO51 FRA-EWR (772) diversion to CLE a few weeks ago, which I found peculiar. Turned out the plane had a maintenance issue (with radar) and that could be fixed at CLE. The positive thing is that they got the passengers off at CLE and clear customs/immigration; and most were put on other connecting flights direct to their destinations without having to continue to EWR.

Will the New 737-900ER for Transcon Service have the new AVODS at every seat like the 757 to compete with Delta and Jeblue AVODS for there Transcon Service?

Also any clue for New transatlantic service out of EWR for summer 2008?

Very little new TATL service in 2008 beyond CLE-CDG as the 752s will be pretty much maxed out.

No details yet, other than that something is going to happen.

Anglo Large Clawed Otter Oct 2, 2007 2:13 pm

After reading all the threads and turning green with envy, I learned that I'm definitely attending the next official DO, even if I have to ensure the Significant Otter's compliance with a tranquilizer gun :p

Absolutely true. With the start of the BOM service, and the continuing reconfiguration, they won't have 772 availables for FRA or BRU, unless they downgrade IAH-LGW. 767s will need to put on those routes, so more routes will be 752s only like DUB. With only a few 739ERs delivered by then, there are simply no planes to increase TATL service other than CLE-CDG.

The schedule is definitely not set yet. They will have at least one pair of slots at LHR, but LK hinted that there's good chance they will have more. So, maybe one EWR-LHR on the 772, and then another 752 (making it 3x daily) to LGW???

Even though CO still haven't said anything official, it's pretty clear that the 739ERs will have AVOD at every seat.

In the DO and on the board right now, there's a huge debate about live TV vs broadband internet. LK said that they need to decide in about a month - which is clear that it's the deadline to spec the 739ERs.

No -- they made it clear that the 739ERs will have *something* at every seat.
