Not to stir the pot but there's an ARTCC on JFK which is ZHU but I don't think there's a TRACON. Different types of control centers. I've been to the ARTCC many times. I heard the suspected fire was in the Tower which is another facility. Couldn't have been that big of a deal as I only found one story when I googled the fire. Still stinks being delayed.

According to an employee newsletter, TRACON controllers headed to the tower and en-route center to control traffic. Apparently a burned resistor on a STARS keyboard was the culprit. The disruption caused 181 delays, FAA says. Thursday was a bad day for the whole system -- 2,949 delays due to weather and volume. Traffic was generally up about 4% over last year's average Thursday.
