According to an employee newsletter, TRACON controllers headed to the tower and en-route center to control traffic. Apparently a burned resistor on a STARS keyboard was the culprit. The disruption caused 181 delays, FAA says. Thursday was a bad day for the whole system -- 2,949 delays due to weather and volume. Traffic was generally up about 4% over last year's average Thursday.
