I like LinkedIn as well. I haven't ventured into FaceBook just yet, but may give that a try.
ALCO - the geotracking thing sounds very cool. I'd like to see what you've done with that! John |

Example: http://flickr.com/photos/ssegraves/1470882570/ Taken at IAH E Club, but apparently that's in Bordersville, TX ;) Basically, Yahoo doesn't recognize annexes. |
I have just been extremely pleasantly surprised by CO and I want to share, but don't want to start a new topic.
Three weeks ago I book a IAH/LGW r/t. Fare is $616, then add on Gordon Brown's extortionate ripoff airtax and it comes to almos $800 per person. Booked two tix, should be paying ~$1580ish. Apply $215 travel club credit, and the next screen says I owe $877.10. Even with my rudimentary math skills I know this number is incorrect, but I can't be bothered to contact continental.com support so I hit the "Purchase" button and assure myself that Continental will sort it all out. Fast forward a week, and Continental calls me up - "We're trying to finish processing on your ticket, but we have the incorrect amount authorized on your credit card..." So I tell them the story, that I applied the credit and suddenly they just wanted an additional $877.10, but I thought perhaps the fare had gone down suddenly or there was some other bug at work and I figured they would sort it out. They thank me for my help and tell me they will ticket. I expect the remaining ~$500 to show up on my Visa. Yesterday they call me again, this time at home. Reservation still hasn't ticketed. I tell the lovely lady on the phone my story once again, she listens, says "hmmmmm... ok thank you very much, all I have to do now is figure out how to fare this out." I ask if all is well, she says oh yes fine we will get this dealt with right away. Still expect them to charge my Visa again. Log into email later and what do I find? A receipt for my trip to the UK, total price for both tickets $1092... they honored the online mistake, dropped my fare to $398 per person + tax. Thank you, Continental! I guess since I agreed to that lower fare you were obligated to honor it, but I didn't' really expect it... after dealing with the stingy b'stards over at BA recently, I was prepared for the worst, but I got the best. And, if I want to, I can upgrade this reservation with miles online!!! I love you CO :p |
Whoa....how do I get one of those deals?? ;)
|
Yeah sign me up for 398+RT.

I'm sitting here at gate 27 at DAL, and I must compliment the Dallas Airport Authority for the oh-so-needed "renovation" of the Co gates at Love Field. I miss my water stained carpets, though!

What is it with you and frequent visits to cr@pholes? Dallas, Shreveport?! Between you and ssullivan's frequent trips to Lubbock, y'all must have really ticked off the travel Gods :p
11 Hours until my flight to MSY...on a real plane...in F  And for the record, the travel Gods have been quite good to me lately. Last week was Dallas (DFW), this week was Denver, the weekend is Atlanta (with a drive up to Charleston late this evening), next week is Orlando, and the end of the month is Minneapolis. I'll only have to step foot on a regional jet twice during the month of October (LBB of course) and so far I'm batting 100% on upgrades on CO, UA, and DL (OK so DL wasn't really an upgrade; when I purchased my ATL-MCO ticket the other night the only thing left on the flight I needed was F). And I'd be shocked if NW doesn't upgrade me to MSP and back. Oh, but in November... I get to experience Colgan again to TYR. |

Hey now, don't mess with LBB. It's not half as crappy as some of the places on my FlightMemory map.

The fall colors were out, it snowed in Aspen (over 1" accumulation), and two beers got me tipsy (which was good, at Aspen prices). Even managed to get myself and a companion upgraded both ways. Overall, one of the better weekend excursions of the year. |

Speaking of flying home last night, why is AU so obsessed with F passengers lowering their headrests for takeoff and landing? Those things are super uncomfortable for me when they're down. It's like stuffing a pillow behind my shoulders and leaving my head and neck with no support. It didn't help that before landing at IAH I hadn't lowered mine yet, so the flight attendant walked up from behind and slapped it down, hitting the back of my head in the process. Kind of reminded me of that CO "take away" commercial where the flight attendant jerks the pillow out from behind the guy's head while he's sleeping. |

Wow, what did they do to the CO gates at DAL? I haven't been in there since June (been flying to DFW since I always get upgraded). Is it more than just new carpet? I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up though, given the fact that most renovations to that terminal are usually very cheap and rather bland. The place had a lot more character a few years ago when it still had the original 1950s jetways covered in a few inches of dust leading to the concourse where CO is, and the area where the AA gates are now still had remnants of the ultra-mod Braniff "Terminal of the Future". DAL used to be one of the best surviving examples of 1950s-late 1960s airport terminal design, but the superficial renovations over the last 10 years have ruined much of that. Although, since they've tried to clean the place up, it does smell a lot better than it used to.
