Shortest flight is FMY-RSW. I don't know how to find the distance. It was in a Piper Warrior.

That's an 8 mile hop.

A co-worker has been to some a couple of times but is out of the office tomorrow so I'll let you know when she comes in.

I remember as a kid sneaking out of bed and sitting at the end of the hall to watch Mission Impossible.

When did a 757 end up in the Azores?

Could have been a charter or a divert.

I recall flying EWR-PHL on a mainline CO jet (I wanna say a 727 -) thanks to an incident at EWR where there was a problem with the fuel pumping system. This is going on 20 years ago now...something about an electrical fault in the fuel farm that morning.

Welcome to Loganair which code shares with whoever is around. This is may be the worst ride dollar for dollar in the developed world. Their Saabs truly suck and some of their cabin crew should be pursuing other careers which do not permit them to have any customer contact.

But we do submit ourselves to it at least once a year because the malts taste even better in the Islands. We will raise a dram or two up there in June.

ETA - BTW, we are staying at the Kveldsro House which is likely to end up as Hotel Central for the Island DO.

I called the guy I've used in the past for an estimate. I'm far down the waiting list as it's not an emergency. I sense I'm further up the list of the non-emergencies as I'm a repeat customer.

Wow!!! Was that little bit of driveway on the right side of the picture where your car was?

Actually the Mainland is good for at least a couple of days visiting Kirkwall, Stromness, some of the ruins, etc.

The others can be reached by ferries but I was only on some of them briefly as our Otter mail delivery plane touched down. The Wiki is very informative.

That was the occasion of our one minute eleven second commercial flight.

I'm working on booking in there as well. Their site is down tonight. It looks like we'll fly into LHR, overnight and then continue on up to ABZ or EDI and then into LSI on LoganAir. Follow that up potentially with LSI-KOI to get to the Orkneys and then KOI back to Scotland for a couple days there before returning home. The LSI-KOI and KOI-ABZ/EDI/GLA flights aren't bad at all but the flight up to LSI initially isn't all that great. Good thing I have a voucher to burn. ^
