Why do the officials sometimes remove a player from a faceoff?

Sort of. Players are removed for a violation in the same vein as the length-of-ball neutral zone at the line of scrimmage in football.
The faceoff dot has four 90-degree hash marks around it. Skates cannot encroach past them - think of a neutral zone for the puck and for the ref's arm.

Another goal for Canada - looks like we know what the final might be ...

And a spectacular final it shall be.

No kidding. I was at the game in Cambridge too, sitting in one of the corners.

We were in the middle. There were very few folks there... It was tne night before a track meet at the Armory. BC, BU, Syracuse, Georgetown, St Johns, a few others and Colgate. Coach's advice to me -- "don't be last".... Result -- I hit a guy (who later ran in teh Seoul games) in the face and ended up last because my race was an NCAA qualifying race and I was not so good...

Can we arrange a Minnesota curling DO? It would involve watching and participation. ^

We can do that DO in NJ too.

With the expense, they are also fairly arrogant, as well.

Welcome to this part of the country -- enjoy the Olympic tape delay.

BTW, ECAC hockey was on the docket tonight... ^
