g'day box.

Been an interesting few days. Trip home yesterday on US was relatively uneventful from an operational perspective. Was treated to a little unintended IFE when a 90 year old white-supremacist was seated between two African American gentleman. The two gentleman handled the situation very well and took the high road much to the relief of everyone on-board, especially the flight-crew. :-:

Weekend wasn't too bad, although I think I'm swearing off Hiltons for the time being. Checked-in on Saturday to find that because we didn't show up on Friday due to flights being canceled from the snow anomaly. Despite me calling and informing the front desk of our interrupted travel plans they tried to refuse accommodating us.

After 20 min. of "conversation" with the front desk they finally released a room, but charged me the rate of the two nights, for the one (it was a pre-paid rate, which, when flights get canceled I've had no trouble getting out of in the past).:rolleyes:

Get up to the room and am greeted with a little stench. After about 30 seconds I realize that the bathtub is full of feces. Let me repeat that -- the bathtub was full of feces (BBM pics can be provided if anyone wants. Maybe someone can host it on photobucket or somewhere to post in here and a post in the Hilton forum I'm going to make).

Called down to the front desk who sent a housekeeping crew up, who validated that this was, perhaps, the most disgusting thing they'd ever seen. Got the room changed, except the new room was not only next to the elevator and overlooking the parking lot (original room was ocean view) and had a broken toilet (unknown if there was a direct correlation to the poo tub). yadda yadda yadda, third room was the charm.

At check-out they provided me no concession on the room for the "inconveniences." When I told them I wanted to enact the "perfect stay" they accused me of not reporting the incidents in a timely manner. Not sure how 30 seconds after walking into the room wasn't timely.

Spoke to the MOD who refused to apologize for the incident and after some cajoling agreed to discount the room rate by 50% (remember, I was paying double for the room to begin with). This gentleman was, perhaps, the most condescending, rude, arrogant individual I've ever met in any situation. His response to the poo tub was that "it has never happened before." That's all fine and dandy, but it did happen and I even showed him the picture I took on my BB, because he was too lazy to look into the room history to find out that they did in fact move my room twice due to housekeeping / maintenance.

In all honesty, having worked at the front desk of a hotel, I'm perhaps the most sympathetic person in the world when it comes to unforeseen problems in hotel rooms. But I also have an appreciation for what the hotel can do to try and rectify that situation. Unfortunately the MOD just made matters worse.

I've fired off an email to the group sales coordinator I was working with at the property, breaking off negotiations for an event I was going to have there in July and I've contacted Hilton corporate. Tonight I'm going to email the GM of the hotel.

Let's see if they can make this right.

Please let us know the outcome. That is beyond disgusting. I have a long list from the Sheraton Towers. Plus1, who is decidely low maintenance, had a list of issues and he'd stayed there and hadn't thought it was that bad. He does now.

Early next week another big one is possible.

I'm from IAH. We got no hills. We got festering, we got heat, and we got crime. But we got no hills.

I think they actually did teach this in Illinois. We do have a few hills around the edge of the state (basically the Mississippi River valley), although the rest of the state is doing its best impersonation of being 2-D.

We learned this in MD's Driver's Ed. And I live on a hill and turn the front wheel to the curb everyday.

Hello from the orchestra pit, which for this show is a platform 9 feet above the stage. If I make it through this run without falling backwards off the thing and breaking my neck, it will be amazing.

What show has the pit up in the air?

I remember playing in pit back in HS. We had a very space-constrained pit...so small that we had to go in over the wall. I was kind of crowded with an alto, tenor, and baritone sax all with only slightly more room than a coach seat.

Hot tea with lemon! Hope you get over it quickly.

And a shot of whiskey. Quite therapeutic.

I told a guy to shut up in the PTY lounge last night. It was made more awkward by the fact that I started going after him in English and that was quite certainly not his first language. :o

He was streaming some video on his laptop and had the volume all the way up. I glared two or three times and his wife noticed and said something but not enough to change his behavior. So I stood up and asked him if he needed to borrow my headphones or if he wanted to turn it down instead. A couple  and  looks but it worked.

And then I had another drink. :p

C1 location. I did tell her to shut up. Didn't help. She is oblivious. There is a woman sleeping through it all.
