What time does CO stop serving breakfast in F. I have a 9:30 am flight EWR-MCO will there be anything in F?

Don't know.

But go to the President's Club and get one of those delicious Nature Valley Crunchy Granola bar! I am serious, not saracastic. I love those things for breakfast.

I just had a big discussion about this with several people at IAH, Continental people that is.

Here's the scoop as far as I can tell:

In order to get the HOT meal, your flight has to "qualify" in two ways. First, it has to depart between the hours of 7a-9a, 11a-1p, or 5p-7p. Then, it has to be longer than 2.5 hours. Anything over 3.5 hours automatically get the hot meal.

I was disappointed last week after working all day, rushing to the airport and gate, then getting in the air to discover that I was getting the grapes and cheese and cracker plate. This was on ORD-IAH. I aksed and found out the answer (finally). The flight was long enough, but it left at 7:15pm, which apparently isn't "mealtime" to Continental, even though my stomach was still on CST and it was 6:15.

I had a similiar experience EWR-IAH two weeks ago....IMHO that grape, cheese, and salami plate is one of COs worst creations for a FC snack. Personally I'd prefer a super simple salad over that any day.

My 2 cents,

Last week I had to go from Chicago to another city and ended up on AA (in First Class). The flight started at 6:35 local time and was just under two hours. NO MEAL...EVEN A LOUSY FRUIT PLATE.

I think CO's commitment to keeping meals at mealtime is admirable. I also agree that the rules regarding duration and flight start time is necessary. This is going to set them apart from other airlines.

Now, if they are going to invest in having meals - CO need's to get it right to uphold their responsibility to their shareholders and best serve the customers. I still do not understand the policy that excludes the FL flights from the breakfast rule (ironically, AA served a hot meal on their competing flight). Consistency is something that we all like when flying and, when applied to food, avoid the unwelcome surprises of an odd salami plate meal.

Focus groups or simple polls (of the right people) would go a long way...are you listening CO?

Just wanted to call this out, for the benefit of the original poster. The best-case scenario for the flight to Florida will be a fruit plate. CO.com will show whether or not the flight is offering Breakfast.
I've always found it interesting that AA offers a hot breakfast on LGA-FLL, sometimes even two hot choices (e.g., pancakes and omelette) but then again, they only have one flight per day.

your flight is scheduled at 2 hours 57 minutes. it is during meal times and co.com indicates that FC will receive a snack plate which will be a large fruit plate and a warm croissant. its not very filling unless you like all of the fruit.

what i just dont get is that Y is also scheduled for a snack. usually if Y gets a snack, F gets a meal. they're actually cheaping out on FC more than in Y. regardless you will get something.

I had the same "cold plate" from DFW-EWR last Thursday night. I could care less about FC food but that was by far the worst I have ever had. On my FC tickets down I was stuck with a salmon salad choice that I didn't want. The FA was nice enough to give me the salad and a pizza from coach. I would much rather have that pizza then a cold plate.

It sounds like you're out of luck, but given that it's at 9:30, you should have eaten by then anyways unless you tend to get up late. Grab a protein shake and a handful of nuts and hit the road.

"But go to the President's Club and get one of those delicious Nature Valley Crunchy Granola bar! "

If you want a breakfast that is basically a dessert then go for it. Those things are laced with sugar. They taste good because, well, they're a dessert. Take an instant oatmeal with you if you want a real breakfast and are pressed for time.

So this a little O/T, but for trips where I'm not sure if I'm going to be fed (especially on MRs), I take a couple of Kashi Go Lean Oatmeal Raisin Cookie bars. They have them at Target for about $1 each (at least in Western WA) and they taste delicious (for a protein bar), have more protein and fiber than most of the other bars, and are pretty filling. Luna bars are also awesome (even though I'm not female, they're still great), but they're more expensive, not as substantial, and don't have as favorable a protein/fiber content.

As for the lack of meal service, this is pretty typical for the EWR-Florida market due to B6 and such. Although, for some reason, they seem to use a lot of 752's on the EWR/IAH-Florida routes, which is great if you happen to buy F or get an EUA.

My flight departed at 910am this morning and FC was served:

Fruit Plate with grapes, mangoes, pineapple and strawberry

Cereal Bowl

or

Cheese Omelette with Ham, Sausage, Potatoes

and

Choice of Biscuit or Sweet Roll

Pretty good spread for a Florida bound flight. We departed Cleveland. The Newark route only gets a smaller fruit plate and bagel. The Houston route gets a smaller fruit plate with hot breakfast sandwich.
