Is the EUA System Even Working

Out of my last four segs ewr-tpa the EUA only ran once for silver. Which I did get the EUA. Since then it hasn't ran once. I can understand if there is only 3 seats left in the bucket and CO wants to try to revenue them. They are in business to make money. However, last night my return flight #819 for tomorrow 11/10 showed 9 in the bucket. Yet CO never ran the EUA last night. What's the deal with that? Believe me, as a silver I value any EUA I get. And don't normaly exepect them. But when you get an EUA the morning after the system showing only 4 in the bucket I sure has heck should not be out of line complaining that CO didn't run it with 9 left on the same route. Can someone with more experience shed some light on this for me...

EUA is run - but in your case the fare bucket for "F" was zero when EUA was run - hence no upgrades. On some flights - CO will hold off on EUA - with many empty F seats - then likely release them at the 3 hour mark.

10 FC seats but no upgrade!

Hi all...

Scheduled for a transcon flight for tomorrow and there are 10 FC available. I am silver flying on a "V" class fare. However, no upgrade has occurred. I called and verified that the elite number was in the system. It is. The CO agent said that the elite upgrades run 6p.m.-10p.m. CST the day prior. Is this is true...they should post this online! All it says is "1 calendar day prior".

Going in as a silver, I thought, no chance of the upgrade. However, with 10 FC seats still left...something is wrong!

Please help if you know what time EUA works for silvers and if others have had this experience.

FYI- My reservation was booked on CO.com

Thanks for your responses.

Hi halifaxflyer, To clarify what my colleague explained to you, our Elite Upgrade Automation (EUA) runs at several intervals before departure. Specifically, as a Silver Elite, it will run just before midnight of the calendar day before your flight (so technically this is on the 2nd calendar day before), once again 24 hours before your flight and again 3 hours before your flight. If you still haven't cleared at the 3-hour mark, you'll be added to the airport standby list when you check in. With 10 seats remaining on this flight, sounds like you do have a good chance at the upgrade (good luck to you), but as I'm sure you know, just because there are First Class seats available doesn't mean they'll be released for advance upgrades. A good number of our paid First Class seats are sold very close to departure.

Not always midnight

What has been happening in the last several months has been my upgrades clearing around 10-11 AM.

I am a platinum and it has been everywhere from day 4 to airport checkin.

It has been a while since I have had an upgrade at "just before midnight" on the fifth or sixth day, depending on how you count.

Just a point of information, from my experience. I am currently waiting on a few upgrades in the next 5 days that have "F" inventory, but no EUA running.

Last week I had one clear at 7:40 AM 4 days out and then at about an hour later, about 9AM for the return, 5 days out.

Thanks CO Insider for responding...especially on the weekend! That is impressive! To give you and others a better understanding of what I am looking at, I have listed the flight information below:

SAN TO EWR on Sunday
SUN 19 Nov 2006

CO 327 SAN 22:00 EWR 05:57 +1 738 A9 D9 Z9 R9 Y9 H9 K0 N0 B0 O0 V0 U0 Q0 I0 S0 W0 T0 X0 L0

It seems with all of this FC inventory, that some seats would be released for upgrades. However, I appreciate your explanation.

Thanks again for all of the responses....
