Under 21 and PC access
(I've tried a search and everything was pretty old)
I have a long layover in EWR in a few months and got a PC pass from the coupon connection. The terms state one must be 21 to enter, I will be 19 (but I look older). Do the access ladies at the club check ID? Could I get in with my German passport (I'm traveling to ZRH) and play the "I don't speak English" game?
I really don't have any interest at drinking at 10:00 AM, besides there will be plenty on KL later that day.
Thanks for the help.

There has been discussion on this issue in the past. I guess you just have to be lucky. If they see the DOB on the passport, they might say no--it's worth trying.

They DO check id..they can loose thier liqour lisc. if they serve you alcohol..the bartenders assume they have checked..id guess if it came down to you actually being served a cocktail and your under 21..the agent and bartender would be fired and you would be arrested..just a thought..and im sure as with all businesses serving alcohol..the state ABC board does random checks from time to time.

My daughter has been unable to get in without us, ever. She is currently 19 (she looks younger), but has access thru AX Plat and passes (her own). I personally think it's a shame; there are many times when she arrives at EWR a few hours before Mr Fish, and I would feel better about her waiting in the PC rather than just sitting in the terminal. I never thought about her being walked in with someone. Maybe she could offer someone entry as her guest in exchange for being accompanied by an over 21. I doubt she would ever feel comfortable asking anyone though.

At the US Airways Business Class lounge in PHL which has an open bar (most US clubs don't) I have never been IDed, with or without parents on entry and have always (as early as 18) poured my own drinks. When I was 20, the agent who was processing my upgrade told me to go get a drink and come back and she'd have all my tickets reissued.

Best of luck. At the PC I continue to get ID'd at the door and at the bar.

I don't view the PC as a "bar". It's a private club with a bar, the same way that a restaurant with a bar is not a "bar", nor is our local yacht club, golf club, etc. I have no problem with bartenders checking ID, the same way it is done in restaurants, clubs etc, where she manages to be an "unaccompanied minor" several times a week. (BTW, she is often in local bars without us anyway; she is a lifeguard, and all their after-tournament parties take place at local bars). My daughters have been going to PCs since they were toddlers, and have never been approached/accosted by anyone inside. One morning last spring, her flight arrived almost an hour early. While she waited at a coffee shop for Mr Fish to arrive, she was approached by TWO different men (at 7am!!), and she was nervous enough to go to a security agent and ask to wait near him until her father arrived. Given the choice between her sitting alone in the PC or alone in EWR Term C, I would MUCH rather have her in the PC.
