CLE Concourse A

CO's terminal map for CLE still says "Some Continental Flights Arrive/Depart Concourse A". Aside from international arrivals at A14, does CO still utilize the gates it has at the end of A? I recall arriving only once (from MCI back in 1999 or 2000) in an RJ into A9A, but I haven't seen a CO plane parked out there in my visits since.

Prior to Terminal D opening, CO regularly used gates in Terminal A for regular operations. However, now CO only regularly uses it for arrivals from CUN and LGW plus the occassional international diversion.

A11 & A14 are both common-use gates utilized for international arrivals by CO and other carriers, as well as for domestic charters. As far as I know, CO does not use any other gates on A, except those two. The A gates were used for RJ flying before Concourse D opened.

I did not know A11 is also connected to the FIS. Is that a new thing -- at least, in the past few years? I remember about 10 years ago, when AA leased A14, that it used to be used for boarding and deplaning pax... and then, at some point, it became common use for ARRIVALS only (scaffolding went up and old opaque glass doors were removed). I suppose A11 could have been folded in to the FIS at that time? Does US still use A11 for its normal arrivals/departures?

Actually, I though it was A9 and A11 (and maybe A7) that were connected to FIS as that is where I see CO67 and the USA3000 jets parked upon arrival.

I believe that US and HP combined gates on the north side of A in gates 8, 10 & 12.

Rumor has it that NW will be moving over to the south side of A to free up additional gates for CO in Concourse C.

Today's CO 67 is scheduled to arrive at A14.

Nope...it's A11 and A14. CO67 has been using A14 most of the time lately, although USA3000's flights sometimes beat it and CO67 uses A11.

A14 used to be the only gate connected directly to the FIS, but A11 was connected within the past several years by building a wall with opaque glass leading to the FIS.

I wonder why CLE decided to turn A14 into an "arrivals only" gate... it was always a boarding gate, too, until CO66/67 began.

It makes sense to have all departures leave from C & D. By the way, I did the 66/67 this year. Very convenient! Clevelanders should try to use that option when going to LGW so CO doesn't pull it, like they did daily nonstops to SJU.

It is very convenient, but I still wish it was AMS rather than LGW.

I am surprised about the SJU flight - isnt it weekly now? Ever time I took it the plane was packed! Plus, it would have made my trip to STX a whole lot easier...

And non-Clevelanders! De-planing from a premium seat, you're through immigration in just minutes, with none of the crowds of EWR or IAH. I've used it from MCI occasionally. Despite the 757's shortcomings, the lack of 777-type crowds at any stage of the journey makes things SO relaxing.
