DCA - Elite Access Security Line?

Is there an elite line at DCA for security? I'm flying out of DCA tomorrow and am trying to figure out how much extra time to allow. Thanks!

There is, but it's poorly marked, and even more poorly policed. The entrance to the Elite line is mixed in with/right between the regular lanes, and often most people don't even notice the sign and just walk into whichever is shortest, including the Elite line. The TSA people don't show up until boarding pass check, and I've never seen anyone policing the Elite line to make sure only Elites use it.

A number of times I've seen the general security lanes moving faster than the "Elite" line.

Welcome to Flyertalk, but please do a search before posting questions. Almost everything you need to know can be found through the search function.

There is a poorly marked lane that comes and goes at the concourse CO uses...it's almost always unenforced by staff, so your results will vary.

Yes, its shared with Delta. But read the sign carefully. if you enter on the wrong side of the sign, you'll end up in the general security line.

Thank you for your response, and I did try to search but was unsuccessful. I'm just learning to navigate the site. Thanks for answering my question anyways.

The DCA elite lane is marked as "first class" and seems to have been policed a bit better during the last few months. It is not policed much during off-peak times, however.

Just went through security at DCA at 11:00 this morning...took less than 10 mins. Piece of cake, given all the dire predictions...(took an hour at the Atlanta cesspool yesterday)...

I have had to chastice the ID checkers on numerous occassions for not policing this line...but the response I receive is usually a shoulder shrug and some comment in an unintelligable language. Just analyze all the lines and figure out which is shortest and moving the fastest.

I've received the same type of responses on several occassions after having asked "isn't this the first class line?" or something to that effect. The elite line has been working, however, in my recent experiences (at least at peak times).

I think people have been complaining, i know I have, because the signage is not clear and they were letting non elites in the elite security line, a clear devaluation of a published benefit.

You should let the TSA person know (who will say it's the airlines responsibility) and the Gate Agent (at the airport the incident occured) as per a note I got from a person in Continental's executive office about this very issue.

A gate agent is suppose to alert the base operations manager who is then suppose to speak with the security line folks.

CO Insider, can you let us know what the proper procedure is for reporting Elite Access Security Line issues?

I can speak for FLL's T1 and T2 - there is either an ID or 'status' checker at the head of the line entrance to make sure people go into the correct lane, always at T2 and at T1 during busy periods. At FLL, I have seen elite line interlopers tossed out and sent back to the end of the regular line by the ID checkers, and I have had to remove some jetBlue people myself from the CO/NW elite line there as well.
