OLCI Same-day Return

Sorry for such a newbie question, but couldn't find this in search.

I was able to check-in for my outbound, but can't seem to do it for my same-day return flight even though I'm within 30 hours of both. Is this possible online or do I have to wait until I've taken the outbound flight?

Thanks in advance for the info.

You should be able to do both on line, but it has to be 24 hours (not 30 before each flight). So if you outbound is at 6am with a return at 3pm-- it must be 24 hours before each. Thus if you do OLCI at 3:15pm the day before your r/t flight, you should have no problem in doing both at once.

I was unable to do this twice this year. I was told by an agent in the EWR PC back in Feb(?) that it's, "broken."

You should be able to check in online for a same-day roundtrip, but to do so both itineraries need to depart within 24 hours (not 30 hours) of the transaction. If you're within 24 hours and it still doesn't work, please send me a PM with your details and I'll get it researched.

I've had a lot of same-day returns and always checked in online. The system will let you check in online for the outbound flight at the 24 hour mark. That's 24 hours before that flight. After you cross the 24 hour mark for the return flight, go back to OLCI and the system will ask if you wish to review the already checked-in segment, or the return segment that is now available for OLCI. Select the latter and you should have no problem.

Thanks for the assist, everyone. I think I was confused by the 30-hour message that shows when you try to change your seat assignment. Once I'd reached the 24-hour mark for both flights, I was able to check-in without a problem.

Certainly had an interesting return: 7+ hour delay, 3 of that onboard the ERJ at ROC, with the EWR storms. And the final indignity, a 30-minute wait at EWR at 1:00a for the GA to move the jetbridge. Ouch, it was a painful day trip!
