Amtrak Codeshare

HAs anyone tried to do an Amtrak codeshare with Continental? The folks in Houston do not understand that a one way trip from New Haven to EWR on the train in $44.00. Whenever I price ZVE (new Haven) to anywhere it is hundreds more with the codeshare. It is far easier and cost effective to just buy a separate ticket on AMTRAK and a separate ticket on Continental.

Also regarding the codeshare, Continental thinks that Stamford is Westchester County when it is in fact part of Connecticut.

They're probably pricing it as if that station were HPN. It's often the same for ZFV and PHL. I've gotten some great deals on the ZFV codeshares, but not lately.

Checked baggage question

Does anyone know if you have to claim bags in EWR if you use the codeshare to ZFV on Amtrak? or do they get checked all the way to ZFV?

You must claim your bags. The last time I did this I was reminded on the confirmation page, the view itinerary page, and the boarding pass. The "flight" to ZFV is a train. You take the monorail to the Newark Airtrain station & xfer to Amtrak. There is no provision for checking through in either direction.
