[QUOTE=J.Edward]One still does share the information - however, it's just done in a way that maximizes results. Calling FT a "MFFSOFBM" is "a slap in the face" towards all the good, kind hearted folks who actually put forth the effort to pass along information discreetly to anyone who might need it regardless of their time here. There is no "secret" FT and when I do notice someone asking a question that I can answer, I'll PM the asker. The other advantage about passing along deals like this is that it forces people to register (you can't PM a lurker ) so if one wants to enjoy the benefits of the group, he/she must give back vis--vis only taking.

I'll try to remember that next time I'm looking for a deal that I didn't know existed. I wouldn't have posted if I hadn't read the allegations on the thread that I mentioned in my post. Since you are concerned about lurkers, why not force registration in order to read posts? Not that it would make a difference but you seem to have a worry about that as well.
I am all for the sharing of information. If I have something that will help another FTer I answer or at least give an opinion. I wasn't aware I should PM them and not post answers for others to read.
Thank you for the explanation of the ground rules.

Sometimes Continental IT guff ups work to our benefit, posting it on here leads to it being fixed faster. While I'm no fan of being under handed, if Continental screws up in our favor - they did it.

Speaking of which... I couldnt get that to work for me ...

That's because I fixed the glitch thanks to this thread.

Using that logic, you should then be on the side of those that signed up for the "purported" Platinum elite offer.

if the original poster didn't post his findings, how would the flyertalk community know about the loophole. in a nutshell, isn't that the point of flyertalk?
If one didn't notice the option was available during booking then one is not paying attention, and that's just too bad.

But it was only available when you put in the code related to the Chase credit card. So you would not have seen it if you were using any other credit card. As such, people could hold with that credit card, but no other, so it was a good tip when it worked.

That way the information can still be distributed to you, the good folks of FT, and perhaps the lifespan of the offer will linger for a little longer. Win/win all around.
thanks for your thoughts but....first, in my many years of FT participation, i have been PM'ed tidbits very rarely. very rarely. second, why couldn't a CO Lurker simply PM you and ask for your tidbit and then fix it? why does not posting it on FT keep it sacred? a CO employee could simply PM you and ask for it.

My answer to the question is you still pass on the information but only when applicable. Let's say I know about a really good routing out of MHT (which I don't, this is just for example). If someone posts something along the lines of, "Looking for Good Mileage run ex. MHT" or "Need 10,000 CO EQMs, based in NE" I'll shoot them a PM with the information. Moreover, I'll also ask that in lieu of them posting said information they return the favor by PMing the information on to whoever they see as needing it. Net effect: information flows, deal stays and more people can take advantage of it.
So there's no such as a "secret network" of users at FT, just some unwritten rules as to how really experienced FT users communicate with each other behind the scenes. You say potato . . . .

I guess these means it's time to shut the board down. WE should not be exchanging information, for if we do someone might find out about it.

So I ask again, what is this board for?

I found out about this a while back in a post that mentioned it in a off-hand way.
There was no need to start a thread that blared out this information in the title for continental to fix.

I really do not understand the point of not having the hold if they offer it regularly. Aren't we just holding the original ticket price, and the 5% if just chopped off. Why would they care?

I would just like to thank the OP for not keeping quiet about this. Can't some of you people get a freakin' clue?

If you didn't use the Chase MC and thereby save 5%, I question your IQ.

I am officially pi$$ed off about the OP blaring this all over the board so that we could lose this benefit.

I don't see any benefit to further discussion of this. I can tell by the tone
where we're headed... to closure.
