The "Hold" is Still Working when using the "ONEPASS" Promotion Code
Looks like the option to hold a reservation still exists--if you are booking using the "ONEPASS" promotion code, a la the CO World MC from Chase. ^
I just held a RT to ZRH. We will hold this reservation until midnight Thu., Jan. 5, 2006 Central Time. To complete your purchase do one of the following: Purchase your ticket online later by signing in to your OnePass Account and visiting Manage Reservations. From there, you can retrieve your reservation and complete the purchase. Visit a Continental Ticketing facility for assistance. ($10.00 fee may apply) Visit the nearest Western Union location with your reservation number and total price of this reservation. See instructions on how to complete your purchase ($15.00 fee per transaction) Call Continental Reservations in the U.S. and Canada at 1-800-300-1547, United Kingdom on 0800 096 1885. ($15.00 USD service fee for non-Platinum members) |

but if you want it to remain a secret, don't post it here! A note to the OP: While I appreciate and admire your enthusiasm, did you not realize that other's here often figure out little tricks that are classifiable as "purported"? By posting such things here in a pubic forum the chance of CO fixing whatever bugs causes this increases dramatically. Ergo, the chances for you - or anyone else for that matter - to continue to derive a benefit from it goes to zero. This forum is public and by all means post whatever you want as long as it is within the T&Cs but for the love of God if you find something that benefits you (as well as others) think twice about posting it here! That's why we have PM's! |

Ummm, uh, you know now that I think about it, I was completely wrong about that silly 24 hour hold thing. There is no 24 hour hold. Can't be; CO says there isn't. :) |
No OnePass "hold" for me
The hold feature was not offered to me yesterday during the course of an EWR-FLL purchase at CO.com using the 5% "OnePass" promotional discount code. :(

That's why we have PM's! thank you very much to the original poster. i didn't know about this loophole. if the original poster didn't post his findings, how would the flyertalk community know about the loophole. in a nutshell, isn't that the point of flyertalk?  |

For example, there use to be a really good intra-Texas deal (you know where chasbondy keeps bemoaning Plat status for less than $1,300 (exactly $1,236.16) - this is where he got the number) but someone then spilled the beans and posted it... a deal which had been around for a long time suddenly disappeared. :( Yet, even before CO axed - ahem "fixed" - the loophole information was distributed about the deal privately. This is how I found out about it (and thanks again to the person who PM'd me) and in turn I passed it on to others who were in need of it. Flyertalk got to keep it's cake and eat it too :) -- that is until some well intentioned poster slapped it up on the MR forum and then would not remove it. :( Okay. Whatever. What are you trying to say J.Edward? Well, I too applaud the OP for posting his findings but mentioned that in doing so the viable life of said findings would be greatly reduced. While I don't think I have a good answer on what one should do next time (if such an answer can even exist), if it were me I'd simply post something along the lines "Has anyone else see the Hold Button". Within this post I'd mention that I've had spotty availability with the hold button and if anyone was interested in exactly what I was doing, PM me. That way the information can still be distributed to you, the good folks of FT, and perhaps the lifespan of the offer will linger for a little longer. Win/win all around. In no way, shape or form am I trying to say that people should not post deals – my point is that there are different ways to go about posting such things. |
I got this message during the purchase process (and signed in with my OP#)
"Note: OnePass members may request a refund within 24 hours when signed in at time of purchase. The option to hold your reservation is no longer available." So the whole point seems to be moot. |

You know, when the supposed world card/auto platinum/50 billion posts thread was occuring some of the posters claimed there was a secret society on this board maintained by older to the board members. I guess the comments above prove that one out.
If this board isn't for sharing information, even if it alerts CO or any other programs, then what is it for? No doubt it has become a b*tch*ng board about the different programs in place and thats fine as an outlet to get problems heard and solutions from other FF'ers. But making it a MFFSOFMB (my friends find stuff only for me board) is a slap in the face to those of us who do share information. |

ng_iint asked, "If this board isn't for sharing information, even if it alerts CO or any other programs, then what is it for?" My answer to the question is you still pass on the information but only when applicable. Let's say I know about a really good routing out of MHT (which I don't, this is just for example). If someone posts something along the lines of, "Looking for Good Mileage run ex. MHT" or "Need 10,000 CO EQMs, based in NE" I'll shoot them a PM with the information. Moreover, I'll also ask that in lieu of them posting said information they return the favor by PMing the information on to whoever they see as needing it. Net effect: information flows, deal stays and more people can take advantage of it. |
