WP Plat Comp....GOT IT !!!!
My company's business travel manager has come through for me. I found out from our NWA account representative that NW has comped my OP Plat status through 02/05.
Goodbye CO. I was so loyal until you stuck it to your best FFers. Hello NW and welcome to my 100K+ annual miles and all of the revenue it represents (yes and even some of it is in HoKeY range)! I will miss the leather seats in F and the free reruns of the Beverly Hillbillys and 3rd. Rock from the Sun, but I like full credit for my flown miles regardless of my fare much more.
See you in the WorldPerks boards!

Welcome to NW, where the customer isn't considered the enemy.
You'll enjoy having customer service that really can do something.

Fine with me, I requalified for Gold last week for 2004, so less competition is fine with me.
I like NW, and admit first hand that their (NW) EUA is much better when compared in terms of COs EUA, in other words, easier upgrades. But, still with CO I go. Over first class experience is better, aircraft (no Airbus!), seats, etc.

Seats, IFE, food, service, aircraft, are all better at CO. NW is okay but just okay. Given the choice CO always.

For the record...I have been CO PLAT since 1997....For the few times that I actually have had to use customer service for something....it's just not worth switching....I fly out of SAN...so very, very rarely weather delayed. For the most part...my EUA's have been right on time.. the few that haven't..I've always ended up in the front anyway...I think it's been twice that I actually went standby and had to sit in coach. Like I said..I'll qualify for PLAT ..half-miles or not...so I think I'll stick around for a while.
I could really care less if they WANT my business or not...as long as my "arse" is sitting in F leather...I'm OK
If this changes for some reason...then I would have to re-evaluate....but for the time being..it's CO for me.

I say give in to your cheating heart (you know you will eventually!) and see what's out there. But, as they say, the best way to be 100% sure you've made the right choice is to never try the best alternative. (Actually I just made that up.) I was 1000% sure that CO was the best thing goin' for years.. laughed at the very sight of a AA plane, etc. Ah well, to each their own.

BTW, if your saying you fly 100,000+ miles a year, that would be EXP on AA...we should talk...

Jon..I fly significantly more than the 100K needed for EXP...it's almost exclusively domestic though...maybe 1 or 2 trips to Europe annually for business...then. wherever the vacations may take me. The domestic upgrades are what does it for me...sometimes the company ponies-up for the full Y...which would mean auto-upgrade if I were EXP...but there are many times where it's not full Y...and my "arse" would be sitting in steerage.
When you were flying CO...were you educated on what AA EXP would bring to the table? I am well aware of what AA EXP is...unless you have other perks that I don't know of.
I just think that you didn't really know at the time that AA would be a better fit for you...otherwise...you'd have been there in the first place.
Maybe..down deep...I'm looking to cheat
haven't been able to justify it yet...please enlighten me if you think I've missed something.
FYI...my hobby is powerlifing...I'm a wide guy..the legroom is not that much of an issue (I'm 6'2")....it's more the seat width.

Well, we've done the math together too many times-- as a pretty much exclusively domestic flyer, able to reach CO Plat even with the new restrictions, etc. your case to stick with CO for your needs is still very persuasive, no question. This year I've flown over 100,000 miles International alone and obviously we couldn't be in two, more different, boats.
I do however think you should try AA EXP one year (as you were mulling in the AA post)-- you don't have much to lose, since you fly a ton and I think you'd be very hard pressed to find many (any?) folks who left CO Plat for AA EXP who aren't very, very pleased with their decision. Then again maybe the reverse is true as well.

Standby for math......
OK...here's my breakdown...total of domestic travel so far this year..still have 8 segments...and 4000 miles to go.
129 domestic segments= 131,129 miles.
10 Int'l segments- 13,800 miles.
Total miles this year= 144,829+ 4,000 upcoming....puts me at 148,829 and this is a rather "light" year.
Waddya think? AA?
Remember..all flights out of SAN now...(relocated to great weather)..this also means that if it's AA...I'll have some prop's to LAX in there.. ugghhh.

Any tips how how she managed to get the Platinum Comp through? I live in MKE, and the only thing CO flies out of here is a jungle jet.
