so who here thinks that agreements are going to start unravelling?

a la American Airlines after the unions found out about management's parachutes?

With the news today that AC management are taking a smaller haircut than the pilots, I figure there's going to be some significant backlash to this - after all, perception IS reality.

Had all of AA's employees finished voting when Carty made his blunder? Milton has signed agreements, and it is only the pilots who took such a large pay cut, the other groups didn't take a 10% cut.

The union agreements are signed and cannot be renegged upon. A few million is not going to sabotage the entire airline. In fact, these "parachutes" have existed since the Onex takeover attempt and are not new. They were known then, and this is just one of those silly stories the media runs when they have nothing more to do than stir ****. Same with the pension shortfall. While it does exist, it is know AC was not paying into the fund since entering court protection. And it is also known that AC is just one of hundreds of corporations in the same situation.

It is the same type of story the press ran about how the pilots would protest the seniority decision by voting against the new contract. Utter BS, since these folks are smarter than that, and the media as it seems, since they voted over 85% in favour of the new contract.

These are big boys, and though they might posture, all knew AC execs had a parachute like this.

As I recall, the AA flight attendants were still wielding the Chapter 11 stick when Carty's golden parachute was brought to light, and as such he and his cronies had to backpedal or deal with the fallout of an F/A "no" vote on their new deal.

Do you think it's about time both of you join a winning team and become a Sens fan?

Having lived in both Montreal and Ottawa, I would have divided loyalties. Not to mention sentiments leaning towards the Oilers and Leafs. So I would do well to stay on the sidelines...
