Manual EUA

I've heard everyones story about being told that upgrades can only be done by computer but I've had an enlightening experience. I am on a flight to ORD on Monday and today is Thursday, 4 days away. I didn't clear on my Plat status on Wednesday. Looked online to see if there were F class seats and there was one. Called, asked about it and she did a manual upgrade for me. Even looked on-line and the seat was changed to F from V. Was this an error or an extremely helpful person?

Guess Gordo will need to make room for one more at the Re-education Camps.

I recently had the same problem, and the res agent I spoke to was able to upgrade me as well. While she was completing the upgrade, she commented to me that some of the restrictions regarding OP had changed. I inquired further about what she meant, and she stated that they were now allowed to do manual upgrades "to be in line with NW" as well as the recreation of an elite desk in the future. I asked about the possible date of an actual elite desk, but she said that she wasn't allowed to share that information. Sounds promising...maybe Gordo realized how much he destroyed OnePass.

Gordo ain't realized nuthin'! He's too engrossed in bein' the business media's darling when he ain't chasin' pussy ridin' his harley.

Maybe it's deja vu all over again, just like in the last days of CEO Robert Ferguson, when a lot of CO's employees realized that their job security depended on listening to the customers more then to the executives.

Does this mean that NW agents can now upgrade WP members on CO metal if you see F availability within you 5/3/1 time slots?

Or have they always had that capability and only CO agents were the ones with their hands tied?

They've always been able (and quite happy) to do so...it's been one of the advantages of WP. They can even do it on tickets purchased through CO.

Admittedly, as a Plat, it's not terribly important...but as a Silver, it's gotta be super useful.

Of course, after 1/1, this whole issue is moot, since CO is going to "R" in place of F as the upgrade bucket and R is hidden.

Why? Do they have something to hide?

I wonder if this will increase the number of conspiracy theories of EUA manipulation or reduce it...

Methinks they intend to hide their obvious manipulation of how EUA works (or doesn't) and how seats are allocated. With the F bucket visible to all it's easier to see what is going on. Once upgrades come from the R bucket we won't be able to tell. But we will still be able to call and request a manual upgrade...

"But we will still be able to call and request a manual upgrade"

But based on what information?

I fear that CO is rapidly moving to a revenue based FF program. The CO * designation may well be another unannounced factor in determining who gets upgrades.
At the rate we are going pretty much the whole program will be a secret

Based on the info above. Nothing but the empirical evidence above says they'll actually give you a manual upgrade.

Oops.Sorry. I meant how would you know after 1/1 if any 'F" seats were available since R is hidden?

You won't know. I guess you'll just have to call within the windiw if you aren't EUAd and ask. So much for saving CO money by not dealing with phone calls. Hear that, Gordo?

Well here it goes.... "I'm so happy I'm a Northwest Platinum..." don't have to deal with Gordo's shenanigans and get my upgrades like clockwork. There was a time 2 years ago when I was Plat on NW and CO... almost went with CO as my preferred carrier, glad I didn't.
