QF codeshare with QF
Title should have been CO reward travel with QF.
Does anyone know how many biz class seats Qantas offers CO on the LAX-SYD or LAX-AKL flights? There are 66 J seats on the 2 class 744's. If you call one pass they will tell you no reward seat are available but QF still shows 30+ seats still open. I know QF codeshares with multiple airlines but just wondering if CO gets 4,6 or ?? how many J seats per flight. I heard that CO only gets 1 or 2 (at most) FIRST CLASS seats on the 3 class 744's.

CO and QF do not codeshare - CO FFers can redeem miles for QF flights, and QF is VERY tight with its premium cabin award availability for non-QF FFers.

"continental flight 752, operating newark to boston, codeshare with continental airlines flight 8752....all aboard...."

Don't know about BC. I have booked a FC ticket on QF using OP miles and later went back to find at least one more avialable. The conventional wisdom is that QF allocates only two 'free' FC seats per flight and those are fought over by QF, CO, US, AA etc all after those same two seats. Do a search, perhaps in the QF forum. I do remember a discussion on the number of BC seats allocated.
If you want to see what is available for FC/BC, join the QF ff program on line. It will then let you search for reward availability, although only for 2 passengers at a time.

I know you've probably heard this, but flexibility is the key. Good luck!

I scored 2 BC tickets on QF25/26, but I gave them a 7 week window to work with, so a flexable schedule always helps! QF25/26 is on a 2 class 744 so I won't be getting skybed, but I won't complain about "free" biz class travel to NZ + AU!!!
I also heard that sometimes FC isn't even offered on some QF flights.

As long as you are planning 11 months or so out, the availability of at least 2 BC or FC seats is not that bad. They are tougher on weekends and easier midweek, but the seats are there. If you really want to cash in 135,000 CO miles for a $12K RT to OZ, it can be done. This has got to be one of the better uses of CO miles and I'm quite surprised that it hasn't been 'enhanced'. Something seems wrong when you have to spend 150K miles RT LAX-HL for BF, yet can go JFK-LAX-SYD and back for 135K in a vastly superior FC product.

60,000 for BF to HNL wasn't that bad, but those days are now over.... these days you need to cough up the 75,000 miles + $$$$$
