As long as you are planning 11 months or so out, the availability of at least 2 BC or FC seats is not that bad. They are tougher on weekends and easier midweek, but the seats are there. If you really want to cash in 135,000 CO miles for a $12K RT to OZ, it can be done. This has got to be one of the better uses of CO miles and I'm quite surprised that it hasn't been 'enhanced'. Something seems wrong when you have to spend 150K miles RT LAX-HL for BF, yet can go JFK-LAX-SYD and back for 135K in a vastly superior FC product.
