IAH Transit Time - Term B to Term D

I arrive at Term B on a CRJ from COS, scheduled arrival time is 10:02AM. My flight to CLE is scheduled to depart at 10:35AM from Term D (flight originates from MEX).

Is is possible to get from Term B to D in 30 minutes? I suspect not. I booked the ticket on CO.com.

You should have time to make this connection. I had a connection like this just last week and made it with time to spare.

The tram that takes you from B to D only takes 2-3 min. and the wallk from any gate in B to the tram is about the same.

One of the longest walks from gate to gate in the US! But if everything is timed correctly, you should have enough time to make the gate if you don't daudle or stop and shop...

You should make it unless your arrival is delayed. Also, you may not leave from D. Just because the flight to CLE originates at MEX and will arrive at D doesn't mean it will depart from there. It may or may not -- some of those flights change equipment at IAH and sometimes they tow the plane to a gate at C, or now E, for the continuation. If you are lucky enough to end up with it departing out of the north concourse of C you'll be fairly close. If you're really unlucky, it will leave from the new terminal E and you'll have quite a long walk; considerably longer than D. In any case, I think you should be able to make it.

Not sure if this is clear from the responses, so let me try to clarify:

Here's a terminal map. http://www.houston-iah.com/maps.html

C and D are attached. In fact, D1, D2, D3, etc. replace C1, C2, C3, etc....

When you arrive in Terminal B, follow signs to the Terminal Link elevated train-- it leaves within the secured area. DO NOT LEAVE SECURITY

The Terminal Link runs about every 3 min. and takes 3 minutes to the middle of Terminal C, within security. Follow signs to your gate- if you do leave from the D gates, you will be abel to walk from C gates to D gates easily.

The whole connection can be done in 10-15 min. if you keep moving. Wait until you're at your gate before you go pee.

Good luck!!

Thanks for the info and the map link.

Is the Terminal Link elevated train relatively new?

I remember taking the underground train from Terminal D to B last year but it was slower than molasses.

It's been around for a couple years.

And yes, it has benefits over the old underground train because it is much faster, plus you don't have to clear security again.

Here's a much better map, that shows the train and the gate numbers:

Agreed. I had a similar connection (TUS-IAH-LGW) coming in B (Gate 63 I think) and out of D (Gate 12?); originally was supposed to be a 50 minute connection, but we were 35 minutes delayed due to a mechanical failure on an earlier flight and then weather over Houston.

A fast walk was required to make the connection, but we managed it.

I have connected through both IAH and DFW too many times to count, and certain connections at DFW are much worse.

I would prefer a connection B --> D over a connection C37/38/39 --> D or C29/30 --> D.

I haven't been to the new E terminal, but upper E --> D looks downright scary.

The TerminaLink train drops you off at the beginning of D, so you'll be fine.

Yes, B-E will be a very long connection until TerminaLink is completed to E. This project is currently under construction and I believe is due to open in 2005 when the new customs building between D and E opens. At that point connections won't be bad at all - in fact, if you come in on the north concourse of C and are departing at E, you'll be able to take TerminaLink and avoid the long walk through all of C. In the meantime, that will be a very long walk.
