headset?

Can regular walkman headset fit into CO's flight outlet to watch movies? I don't feel like paying $5.

You will need an adapter, or you will hear only in one ear.

$5 is a purchase price, not rental, so it's a one-time fee. You keep the headset, so you can re-use it.

Many CO Elites may have a stash (I pocket the sealed ones I get when I'm in F, and re-use my same one). If you run into a fellow FlyerTalker CO Elite, you may be able to bum one off of him/her.

On their 767-400, my sony head set works well in coach. In BusinessFirst however, sound comes only comes out of my left head set.

I haven't noticed the patteren yet, but on newer aircraft, it does appear that at least one of the sockets for the two-prong airline headset plug is also rigged for stereo if a regular headset plug is inserted. It may be only on one of the plugs, so if you plug in a regular headset and get sound out of only one side, try the other plug.

Of course, to be sure that you'll have sound in both ears, go to Radio Shack and get an adaptor. It will probably cost more than the $5 headset fee, though.

You can also get the adapter at some airport stores. I recently purchased one at an Alti-Tunes cart at CLE airport for around $5. Worth it to be able to use your own headset.

I got dozens of headsets still in the plastic.

At this rate, my "stash" will be worth more than my miles.........

Last year the same headsets that now go for $5 were only a buck or two.

I remember that....

On coupon connection, you may see notices for Continental Currency floating around. These vouchers are valid for one drink or one headset purchase.

I got a couple of CO tee shirts off the auction site for 100 miles each last year. Had the same observation, the FedEx charges alone cost CO more than it's worth.
