Logon First for Rewards
No doubt you have discussed this before, but I missed it. I have read alot of CO bashing on this board about no coach rewards being available, and I felt your frustration, as I tried many times. Then, I decided to logon on first and then search for coach rewards. As soon as I logged on with my OP#, almost every reward trip I searched was available in coach (including Hawaii), and not the double miles I had been getting without logging in. I hope this helps.

Yes, sir, you are correct:

While coach availability is nice, BusinessFirst is what many FlyerTalk members are after.

It was interesting to see how my ability to book a BusinessFirst standard award to Europe dropped on March 1 when I went from Plat to Silver. Luckily my Spain vacation in June is already booked! (Certainly won't be able to change it, though).

The folks at the Elite desk claim their inventory is different from what's on the website, too. It sounds crazy, but who knows.
The other strange thing is that inventory is sometimes available on a multi-segment trip, like IAH-EWR-GVA, while it won't be available EWR-GVA. So you have to have them check both an entire routing and by segment. BTW, for the life of me, I can't understand why they would make award inventory available like that.
