Changing dates on CO award ticket - HELP

I need to fly in and out of SJO and was able to use DL miles to get a CO ticket since they are Skyteam partners. My question is that the day I need to fly only premium awards are available. If I get the ticket issued and if there are seats available on the day of travel, can I get on the flights I am really wanting to take. This is also an e-ticket so I should be able to change it as long as there are seats available. Is that correct or does CO has different policy - any fees associated with this change?

Help!

First of all Continent's policy on mileage travel has no bearing on a Delta airlines Issued reward Ticket. Delta dictates the ticket's rules and all changes must be made via DL. If you are thinking about standby on the day you want to fly out. Your ticket must be of that same day or else you will be denied.

If you were using CO miles & had elite status you could waitlist for the standard award. I have no clue what Delta does - you should post on the DL forum - it's really not a CO issue.

As far as the change of flights, you can standby for earlier flights on the day of travel - they'll hold your original seat until they issue you a seat on the alternate flight. I don't believe you'd get miles back.
