The current CO 3x segments offer appears to be a joke. The fare has to be &gt; $400 each way and of certain classes to qualify. With needing 30, 60 or 90 segments to qualify, I would be surprised if many people benefitted from the promotion. One would have to be only a few segments short of a goal, and very short of time (or perhaps at the far end of the route map) for flying the targeted fares would make any sense if there were alternatives.

All that being said, your guess is as good as mine. [/B]</font>
It is isn't a joke. You can really rack up the segments. One trip with a connection each way will earn you 12 segments. Do that once a week, and you will go from 0 to Platinum in two months.

You just have to make sure that your fare is above $800 each way, which FC almost always is. BF earns sextuple segments, but the per mile segment yield isn't as high as domestic.

As a result of the triple segments promotion, I have taken CO over DL or AA in cases where CO was more expensive or required me to go a little bit out of the way. This promotion has cemented my loyalty to CO.

I hope that CO continues triple segments or something along the lines of what NW announced recently.

i don't think they would.

i think all airlines should have this as an option for people that fly short flights. it's not their fault.

plus, these short flights often have the highest $/mile (unless Southwest is doing something aggressive like in Texas).

If CO can convince anyone to pay the A fare on some of their TX routes they will earn $3 per seat mile. That makes up for a lot of 5 and 6 cents seat miles in the back. (On a short route I am sure this yield is higher, but many people on these short routes are making a connection on a cheap ticket).

Glad to hear that it works for some people.
