The Gold Challenge
Just some general info -
My wife and I both completed the Gold challenge and our OP accounts indicate we are now both Gold
for 2002. A call to the OPSC with a question about 2003 was answered that it will be taken care of automatically next year. Anybody else take/make this challenge?

Did Gordo himself assure you "it will be taken care of automatically next year."?

Talk about timing . . .
in our mailbox this morning, and after the original post, I just received two envelopes with our Gold cards which expire 2/03.
The enclosed letter just says that we've been upgraded this year - it makes no mention of the challenge. Weird?

Let's Go,
Although I have no information on the the question you asked, How long did it take between your turning gold and receiving the Gold card?

The gold challenge was a targeted promotion (which I did not recieve), but I believe the details were fly 4 or 6 roundtrips that were not Q or T fares and recieve an upgrade to gold elite.
There was also another way to get gold elite faster, and is open to everyone:

I got a silver challenge in the mail, after I had completed my 38th segment. I'll make gold by mid Nov. Will probably get the gold offer/challenge around Thanksgiving.

A word of caution, the triple segements post haphazardly and you have to be careful of the way you check in. If for example, you are flying between two cities (A and C) in D class with a connection in B and the RT fare is 1,000 you should qualify. However, if you have a stopover in the connecting city and you only check in for the first segment, and then check in for the second segment once you reach the connection, you will not get the triple bonus. The system will calculate the fare as $250 A-B and $250 B-C, instead of $500 A-C.

I wasn't paying close attention, but I think it was about a month until the envelopes arrived today, but we were treated as Golds while traveling during the last month.

Blame Continental, not the people who took advantage of the offer.
CO has the right to extend such offers, even if they devalue your status. If you were given the same offer (and help no status), would you not take advantage of it to keep the program qualifications above the table?

Does anyone know if 2 one-ways count as a RT for this promo? Not sure if anyone's had any luck with it.
Thanks!
Thanks!
