Smoking at IAH?
Having gotten used to getting a tan while smoking at EWR, CLE and DCA I was wondering if there's anywhere after security to smoke at IAH? I'll be passing through this afternoon on my way back home to LGW.

Kinda strange - because you can smoke in any bar in Houston and I haven't been to a restaurant that doesn't have a smoking section.
Before the current construction you could easily duck out into the parking structure and have a very short line through security to return to the terminal
What I do is get a locker in the P-Club (they now make you imprint a CC to get the key) take your ticket and go outside - Walking through security with no baggage or metal in your pocket makes it bery doable

I really dislike when people smoke in the parking garage near the entrance. The only thing worse than walking through a poorly-ventilated parking garage with so much exhaust is when you're overwhelmed with cigarette smoke, too.
The weird thing is the number of non-smokers (limo drivers or the like) that just hang out there and don't seem to mind it or desire a better place.

What's your point? That I don't have a right to be able to fly out of IAH without arriving at my destination with my jacket and hair smelling of smoke?

Man, I'm soooooo glad your only pissed at the "cigarette" smokers... I know if I was putting out my normal huge noxious cloud of CIGAR smoke... more that just your jacket would smell like smoke. Socks, boxer shorts, the money in your wallet.

Wanna show me a serious smoker who could actually hike even to the top of Mount Huron(14er in Colorado), let alone Mt. Everest without collapsing?

A little too much flaming going on here - LOL
The area outside of the doors @ IAH at the entrance is marked NON-SMOKING, there are as many people in CO Blue violating those signs as liesure suits.
Seriously with all of the construction going on there you would think they could provide a secre exterior Patio after security to take care of this issue.

I ended up using a locker (thankfully they can actually hold a suitcase unlike the lockers at CLE) and alternating between excellent free margaritas (don't remember the server's name in the north PC) and going out to smoke.

Of my domestic travels - as of this year
PHX - In the bars -
TUS - Im a glass cage -
LAX - In an outside cage -
MCO - In a glass cage -
That's my current list - Primarily an LAX-IAH-LAX commuter - don't get to to many other.
Perhaps there are others that accomodate ?

Lets not forget at LAS. You can also smoke in the glass enclosed areas where the slot machines are.
