Does Upgrade Priority List Exist

I am highly frustrated with Continental and EUA. I can not seem to get a clear answer in regard to this issue, so I decided to post here.

As a KLM RW and a CO Silver, which is better for my chances of upgrade? This year I have flown six times and only received upgrades twice- once using RW and once using CO Silver card. EUA worked with CO 1 day before while RW only worked at airport check in after I asked Ticket Agent for upgrade. BTW, no problem with NW on upgrades whatsoever.

I thought that KLM RW was equivalent to NW Gold.

Since NW Gold = CO Gold, I would guess that you have a better chance of upgrading on CO segments using your RW status.

I didn't think that RWs were officially entitled to upgrades on CO--at least according to the KLM website, RWs get upgraded on NW but there's no mention of upgrades on CO.

If you find that agents recognize RW status, then I would put my CO silver number in the reservation, as to get a chance at EUA, but at the airport, you could change to RW if you find that this gives you higher priority.

KL RW does NOT do anything at CO (as per the rules!)

Okay, here is the way I understand it the priority list after speaking with CO and NW agents. Notice the subdivisions of fare class within each used as "tie-breakers" if there are 2 Platinums say vying for the same last seat.

CO Platinum
- Full Fare
- Economy
CO Gold
- Full Fare
- Economy
CO Silver
- Full Fare
- Economy

CO tried to tell me it was time sensitive and subject to EUA however when I asked the agents if I am Silver and book a ticket 21 days before a Gold could I get the upgrade before them and she said no. So supposedly within EUA there is another way of handling upgrades apart from the first-come, first-served basis it implies. The above list I think goes into effect when tickets are under airport control instead and are at the gate agents discretion as well.

NW agents were more friendly regarding upgrades and mentioned the following, if the flight is a NW flight number operated by CO, then yes I could upgrade with KLM RW if a seat is available. It is an unpublished benefit as KLM is a partner. However,
if the ticket is CO flight number and operated by CO, then NW can not access the reservation to put in the upgrade unless there is at least one NW segment in the itinerary.

Too confusing? Go on Jet Blue instead- satellite TV at each leather seat and brand new Airbus and no fuss about upgrades. It seems that what a lot of people in JFK area are starting to do.

I believe your scenario is somewhat off base... here's how it works... re: CO EUA Enhancement Memo of Apr-29

5-day

Full Fare
- Plat
- Gold

Discount
- Plat

3-day

Full Fare
- Plat
- Gold

Discount
- Plat
- Gold

2-day

Full Fare
- Plat
- Gold
- Silver

Discount
- Plat
- Gold

1-day and there on in...

Full Fare
- Plat
- Gold
- Silver

Discount
- Plat
- Gold
- Silver

Once you hit the 2-day window, a full fare Silver trumps a Plat on discount economy.
