$ Value of a OnePass Mile?
I used 10,000 miles to upgrade my brother on a flight today. He INSISTS on paying me for the miles. Is there a commonly accepted value for a OnePass mile?

I'd say it depends on the length of the flight- 2-3 hours for a hundred beans.

$0.005 to $0.015 is fair, but a penny a mile is perfect.

CO recently had a promotion (called "The Extra Mile") where you could earn a bonus mile for every earned mile up to 10K miles for $99. Using that as a measuring point -- it seems quite fair to value 10K miles at a hundred bucks.

Online companies often offer 3-5 cents per mile for a 25,000 reward ticket.
I myself, on ebay have sold tickets by using my miles. But hey, be quit, i shoudnt be doing this. I have goten at least $350 every time and $400 a couple times for a standard coach class ticket.

If he insists and you don't particularly care about the money, let him pay you half of what he thinks the upgrade is worth. That way, you're both guaranteed to come out ahead.

The most common and fair benchmark for price is $0.02 per mile, though it would be very difficult to replace them at that price. The charge for buying miles is about $0.026 for AA and UA and would also be a fair price. Anything in that range would work

Actually, I am not sure if friends know how difficult it is to build and keep mileage. They tend to think upgrades are easy to come by.

yes, but given that this is a family member and the original post made it clear that the recipient was insisting on re-payment, I would think that the goal would be to lead the recipient to believe that this was a fair trade, even if it was not...
now if it was the next door neighbor, I would start the bargaining at the fare difference between (A) and (Q/T)

I value them at about 1.6666 cents per mile, based on fare equivalents for a favorite award (an Asia RT).
