I have to agree LAS is a mess. Sometimes its a ghost town but sometimes its swamped. At least you can be entertained by the colorful animations of stuff you can't bring through security.
Knives/Guns/Bombs/etc. Its almost cartoonish.
Also remember once you get past security there are slot machines in the terminal. One slot employee I struck up a conversation with said the machines are extremely busy and payout regularly. One woman won 2.1 million while waiting for a Southwest flight. They gave her a limo and put her up in a hotel suite for the evening. Needless to say she DIDN'T make the flight or fly coach again! LOL

And remember this important LAS security tip per the posted sign: no cactus plans through the x-ray machine! Actually, I wonder if this is still the policy, post-9/11.

I was so sleep deprived I didn't know whether it said about them, just that there was something about catii(sp?) on a sign...kind of like the announcement at PHX where they mention that "large belt buckles" and "cowboy boots" should go through the x-ray machine... guess they know the locals...

Excuse me if this has been covered, but can a Continental Platinum use the elite line at the HP counter.

OffT: jginnyc,
There are a few In-N-Outs in Vegas.. LOL, pick up a directory of all locations next time you're there.. I keep em in my car, carry-on, purse, etc.. This is the only serious addiction I picked up from my time living in Cal.. (Well, that and Marie Callendar's Strawberry Pie, Artichoke Soup from Duarte's in Pescadero, ....)

Yeah, I got picked for the full-treatment bit at the main security even without setting off the metal detector. Thankfully there was no line beforehand. I can see where things would really bunch up at peak periods there, though. Good point, too, about having trouble competing with casinos for labor, especially with the higher standards now.
I'm also a fan of In 'n Out Burger. Have tried to explain for some time to a friend from California (who's had 'em around for all his life) what they do that's different or special compared to other fast-food places.

What fools the TSA be. Sure long lines = better security, right? Reminds me of my favorite wine joke:
"This is the worst wine I have ever tasted. Does nothing for me and actually makes me sick."
"The Wine Spectator gave it a 92."
"I'll take a case."

Bah ...I think it was a bit more ontopic in a different thread but I can't find that one and I'm drunk in the LAS PC so ..bah
but...
They've completely separated the first class security line to a separate corridor. ZERO people in fornt of us, ZERO people behind us. And that's for a miidafternoon sunday departure.
easy easy easy

Took me all of 30 seconds to clear the LAS security line tonight (stuck in coach since I'm on NW metal) - literally walked right up to the metal detector.
LAS security has been quite kind to me lately - haven't waited more than 2 minutes on my last 5-6 trips!
Sitting at the PC right now for the next 2 hours or so...big ^ to the front desk crew tonight!

Glad to see the LAS line under control lately ^. I, in the past have been in hour long lines in LAS.
