Is EUA Running at all????
Copied from anther thread. It does not appear that EUA is working at all. I have been monitoring flights I have this week and nothing is moving. Has anyone else with flights this week checked the seating charts. With less than 48 hours before the first trip, it is certainly suspicious that only 5 of 32 available FC seats are filled.:(
================================================== ===== I've been monitoring two flights I'm on Wednesday, both "V' class, PHL-IAH-OAK (738/739) Theoretically, EUA should have run 5 days out, on Friday. Following are the number of FC seats assigned/total # FC seats. Fri Sat Sun Monday PHL-IAH 2/14 2/14 1/14 1/14 IAH-OAK 3/18 3/18 4/18 4/18 So it looks as though EUA is either not running, or perhaps if it is running, it is looking to assign FC seats to only high fare clases and there are none at this time. Obvioulsy, my V fare isn't high enough. Another theory (possibility) is that CO does not assign a lot of R seats, so that there are none to upgrade into. Given the city pairs and the fact that these are Wed morning flights, its hard to believe, that if the system is working, that CO would not have assigned a reasonable # of R seats to these flights. Edited to add (Monday) that I serious question if EUA is down. I have also been following my return this Friday and there has been no movement there. OAK-IAH has stayed at 2/14 and IAH-DTW has stayed at 2/14. The only flight that has cleared is Friday DTW-PHL and that is on NW metal. Why am I not surprised :) |
I worked for me today.
I was upgraded yesterday when I used the on-line check in for my IAH to ORD flight today. This morning I received an EUA for today's flight and my return Thursday.
FWIW DLM edited to add that I'm on an "X" fare. Since I got EUA'd for my Thursday return, the low fare theory does not seem to apply. YYMV |
As I said on another posting I think the computer is linking upgrades to the fare paid without reguard to the status level. I have no direct proof other than the increase number of "Plats in the Back" who are on low fares. :( This also could be the cause of battlefield promotions since the no show of the upgraded passinger is passed on at the gate.
Complete speculation on my part but the changes of March 16 continur to filter thru. |
As NW plat I got EUAed at the 5-day window a couple weeks ago for flights I'd purchased in bargain-basement L class. I also got EUAed on a flight in U class a few weeks before that.
I think EUA is running as usual, but that they're allocating very few seats to it except on relatively empty flights. On flights that are fairly full, I think they're holding the majority of FC seats back in the hopes of selling last-minute Z fares that are comparable in price to the walkup coach fares on other carriers (and often cheaper than CO's own H fares). |
Maybe some of the Continental's IT people were goofing off in a data center at 1600 Smith Street, and someone accidently broke the power supply of the Commodore 64 that runs the EUA program, and until they can find a replacement power supply for that Commodore 64 we're SOL.

I was on SFO-IAH 12:40am flight on Sun. I did not get upgraded until 20 in before takeoff. Ticket was a "V" and I'm Gold. The back was completely full and I was check in seq# 74. I thought no way was I going to get the upgrade. However I did, thankfully. The passenger next to me was upgraded becuase the entire back was full, she had no status. My question is what exactly does the sequence number mean? I thought I was only for elites however is it for anyone doing OLCI- status or not?

Your sequence number indicates how many people checked in before you for that flight--regardless of status or method of checkin. A seq# of 74 means 73 others checked in before you did.

I got upgraded during online check-in 24 hours in advance for a flight from IAH-BOS later today. I have never been successful during online check-in before. A co-worker was also successful for the same route (different flight) later today.

I am shocked I wasnt EUA'd for my EWR-LAS flight today, seems like there are quite a few seats up front still unassigned.
Its the 6:25pm flight, BTW. That being said, for a route like EWR-LAS I totally understand holding back seats for last minute fares... |

I suspect that the 5 seats assigned are actually FC pruchases. It looks like I need to be up at 6 AM tomorrow morning to be SEQ#1 with OLCI, since right now that appears to be all that is working.
ITN indicates: A7 D7 Z7 Y9 H9 K9 N9 B9 O9 V9 U9 Q9 I9 S9 W9 T9 CO Seat Map: 5 open seats I have exit row for this leg & an EUA for the second leg, so I am not complaining. I am, however, interested in seeing the "logic" behind the revenue management for this flight. Yes, I am on a riff-raff fare but do they really think they are going to get this many walk-ups? |
