For whatever reason, flights are not being filled with elites until the 24 hour point.
IMO, until this thing is stable again, anyone not confirmed in FC should really try to be SEQ 1 if they want to ride up front. Edited to add: I've been following the seat chart. At 7 Am the flight was down ot 6 open FC seats. At 8 AM its down to 4. This sure looks like seats being assigned at OLCI to (hopefully plats) and definitely not like some EUA action. |
Things appear to back to Normal --
EUA'd at 5 day mark for next Tuesday both legs - DFW-IAH-BWI (W Fare); We'll see if 5/20 return runs tonight... |

EUA'ed on 4/14 for flight out of CLE on 4/20. V fare on 738 (14FC seats). Six days out but really 5 day EUA since they do it at 9pm instead on 3am later in the night. 3 out of 14 before EUA, + 2 of us Plat's upgraded, result 5 out of 14 occupied.
BUT I did not get the email, had to check on line. EUA is running, but email is down. P.S. Email received at 7:30am - about 10 hours after upgrade. Also, note that the email message has been improved so the message fits in the text message for email sent to your cell phone. Great improvement (which I have suggested to co.com before). I call this improvement (rather than enhancement) since it really is an improvement!! |
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!
I'm flying to IAH-BOS 7:45am Sunday (day after tomorrow). Platinum on K fare w/ 9 open FC out of 12. No upgrade yet. Called elite line about EUA. Lady said EUA hasn't been run yet but offered guaranteed seat for 15k miles. Some help. This is a big change from last year's experience w/ EUA, which for me were like clockwork 5 days out.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR She said it hadn't been run yet? I hope she was wrong because thtas just SCREWED up... if so... Lets all have a march in Houston in protest.... I don't mind flying back down... -Vincent |
EUA is running, I believe it is just that R is zero on many flights (even though lots of FC seats open).

My return flight still shows 3 out of 16 seats occupied, now well within the Plat and Gold window...so far no one got anything. Frustrating and odd. I understand the definition of 'subject to availability', but come on - this is abit much.

I did CLE-IAH last night on a K fare (plat) and was not upgraded. The flight was showing A7, 4 hours before departure.
This will be the 4th flight in a row which I haven't been upgraded. I'm on flt 40 to EWR tomorow and it's showing A9, so I will be disappointed if this continues. No EUA so far. Again a K fare. |
We'll have to wear bags over our heads
If we march in protest over the degradation of the EUA system, we'll have to wear bags over our heads in order not to have notes put besides our names/OP numbers as whiners. Maybe after the DO, they assigned some people to monitor this forum and right now they're looking up "plat, iah-bos, Sun, CO282, who's called Elite Desk"
Hmmm - I love CO's EUA system. And their planes, and the FAs, and pilots, and GAs, and baggage handlers, and elite desk and reservations personnel, the IT guys, the EUA guys, the people that monitor this forum, management, Chelsea catering, the people who pick the movies, the people who monitor this forum (oo0 - I said that already), the person(s) who can give me my upgrade now so I don't stew until 7:45am tomorrow morning when I can try the OLCI and find all the FC seats taken by CO personnel going to Boston to run in Monday's marathon like I am. Oh, well, I got 14C (hint to people monitoring this board), which is a reclining exit row. I guess I just won't break a world record like I might have if I got to sit up front. I would probably stand on the podium above the Kenyans who placed 2nd and 3rd and say "Gee, I owe everthing I accomplished today to the EUA system at CONTINENTAL AIRLINES". |

Due to the timing of my bookings, often within 1-2 weeks of the flight, even getting an exit row is sometimes difficult. |

So while a Z fare may price out less than a Y fare, to CO a sure thing is worth more than a percentage of a higher amount. I'm sure that the yield management models take this into account and price accordingly.
