I been on a cruise once, and I still don't know what "cruise casual" means.

But nothing's funnier then the conflict between the folks who believe that a tux is the only proper attire for dinner and the "It's my vacation and I'll wear anything I like" riff-raff.

I'm thinking the lime-green snorkeling getup that Randy Quaid sported in "Vegas Vacation", but that's just a guess.

All I have are wranglers and a ten gallon cowboy hat. Isn't that what y'all will be wearing?

I'll have to leave the ten-gallon hat at home...I don't think it would fit on a jungle jet...perhaps if I bought an extra seat?

I've lived here twenty years, and do NOT own a cowboy hat, cowboy boots, nor do I drive a pickup truck (well, used to have the small Toyota a few years back).

I'm sure nice clean jeans will be fine, though I'll wear some slacks and a fun shirt.

Oh, the only time I'm asked for my passport at IAH is when I'm coming through the International Arrivals. YMMV though

After all...for many, business attire would refer to jeans and a button down shirt, right?

That'd be "fancy business attire" here in the Bay Area. Other days, buttons and collars are optional

Now I'm totally confused. "Cruise Casual" to me (having never been on a cruise) meant something between jeans/tshirt and slacks/dress shirt -- not sure which end of that spectrum. Probably not shorts and bare feet.

Then I hear "what you usually wear on the plane" -- I usually wear jeans or shorts, birkenstocks, and a tshirt. If I'm spending 3-6 hours travelling, I like to be comfie. That's what I'm flying down in on CO51.

I guess I'll take a poll friday night while I'm in jeans/sandals/tshirt and "upgrade" my attire if necessary for the tour/meeting. If anyone wants to swing by the hotel between the meeting & dinner, I'm sure I won't be the only one there with a car.

Im in CHI on putting up with a trade show before coming down for the do. I have my suit, which will be worn in part or full Friday night if I make it to IAH on time and I plan on khakis and a dress shirt for Saturday's festivities.

Only if you work in a lawfirm. Everywhere else around here is a bit more casual.

I think you should wear what you normally would wear around a hotel if attending a conference (and not an Apple computer conference). I think Friday night with band in the hotel Ballroom should be slacks and an open dress shirt and equivalent female attire. Saturday could likely be Kakis and shirt, at least a polo shirt with collar. This is a business meeting with CO execs. Maybe jeans afterwards at the Hyatt.

Cruise casual in my view (if on a ship) is what you might wear at night at the disco or in the day could be kakis and shirt.

Note the weather will be cool mid 40's to low 70's in the day, most sunny.

Let me also add: If we dress like a convention of computer geeks or hackers(who take advantage of the best bargins), we are not going to get the same credibility as if we appear to be:

- a group of seasoned business travelers
- young upward mobile future business leaders
- New York jet setters
- etc.

Not sure that we need to look and act like anything more than customers who care about helping make the product solid and sustainable, but agree with your definition of cruise casual. This is a business meeting first.

We may be in the minority on attire, but I trust the quality of the discussions will leave a positive impression.

Of course, given that half the crowd will be 'New York jet setters' that image definition may change! A lot more members of the jet set than there used to be...

How about a T-shirt with a picture of a pizza on it, sans toppings?
