Have any Silver status members received kits yet?

I just received my Platinum Elite materials this week; not many changes worth noting. When will CO recognize the top Platinums and that "not all Platinums are created equal?" In 2000, I had 159 segments and 152,000 miles. I feel CO should have an Executive Platinum level that recognizes individuals who have qualified on BOTH segments and miles. Perhaps this subset could have a 7-day window on automatic upgrades.

Also, I've noticed that the Y-upgrades are now more costly in many markets because CO has inserted 3-day advance fares at the old Y price level and now charges an extra $50 each way to get to the Y (upgradable) level. This is extortion, in my view, and an insult when many of the 3-day fares RT that I fly are already about $1800.

CO Marketing and Yield Management should not get too cute with their pricing strategies; I can fly coach on any airline.

Thoughts?

COPlatElite,

Welcome to the CO forum. Your segs and miles are impressive. However, you are "preaching to the choir" with your threat to fly coach on another airline.

The USPS has standard forwarding when you change addresses/move for free for a few weeks. Just go to your local post office, ask for a change of address kit, and everything will be all set. Your elite package will be forwarded like any other piece of mail.
This may not be the case. Not all mail is forwarded. It depends on if there are other instructions from the sender on the envelope - such as Do Not Forward.

I moved about a year ago and NONE of my frequent flier materials or hotel program statements were forwarded and I remember reading a Jane Bryant Quinn column once that said frequent flier materials are never forwarded.

To be safe, change your address with the programs you're in as soon as possible.

I received my Gold Elite package in the mail last week. I live in Houston, so I assume it got here a little quicker than most other people around the country.

The gold elites only get a $75 gift certificate from Ashford, a "Fast Track" to Hilton HHonors VIP certificate, a Starwood Guest certificate coupon...also buried is 2 presidents club coupons (they are hidden behind a Join the Presidents Club pamphlet)...some of the other platinums may not have noticed it...don't throw it away without looking thru everything carefully.

Also I liked the new Gold luggage tag. Hope this is helpful.

Elites who are President's Club members don't get the club passes. I guess it's never occured to CO marketing that we might possibly want to offer passes to friends who might be potential future club members.

Reading from the USPS Mover's Guide: Mail Forwarding Facts:

The following mail will be forwarded at no charge for the period indicated:

First Class (also Priority & Express): 12 months

Newspapers and magazines: 60 days

Packages over 16 ounces: 12 months locally, charges apply out of the local area (you can ask that this class of mail not be forwarded).

NOTE: Circulars, books, catalogues and advertising mail under 16 ounces will NOT be forwarded unless requested by the mailer.

Most frequent flyer materials are sent PRESORT STANDARD (the USPS's cute name for bulk/junk mail). The official change-of-address card that the consumer sends to the postmaster does not have a place to make the above-mentioned request for bulk forwarding, so I would guess very few people take the time to personally go into their local Postal Service office to request the special forwarding.

Old Gold,

Finally joined P Club late last year, after trying to survive on passes for the past few years. Lo and behold, I DID still receive the 2 passes in this years package.

Not sure if there is an extremely long delay in getting the info over from PClub to OP, and that is why I got them, but............

I live in Houston and still haven't gotten my Gold Elite package (still living off the Silver card from last year after achieving Gold in December)...

My husband is wondering why I keep asking him if I have gotten anything in the mail from CO...he doesn't realize that we're all reporting our goodies to each other!

I take it you haven't told your husband that you're a flyerTalker, FemaleFlyer, ...... ......that's OK, I didn't tell my wife for a long time, she thought it was a little strange at first, but now that she's met a number of the people, and thinks it's OK.

... too bad because they're good "boss-butter-uppers"
Are we talking about PC passes or is this some kind of amphetimine suppositories for management?

Just got my Platinum Package yesterday, and I must say the Ashford gift certificate was a pleasant surprise. I agree, it would be a good marketing idea to give PC passes to those who are members already, to be able to pass along to 'future members'.

They must have found out I know Jaws! I still do not have my kit yet.

Old Gold,

After meeting me, your wife still thinks we are OK?

I suspect it was the suave, smooth, handsome JAWS, who Mrs. Old Gold met in Houston, that led her to believe that we are all wonderful gentlemen and ladies.
