Booking using CO's website

Was informed last night by CO that I am on a B fare today rather than a Y fare. If I want to make a flight change I have to pay $$. I book my flights on CO's website every week. Why is it that they don't show you the fare class when booking ? Does anyone know how I can specify Y travel over B travel using CO's site ?

$478 for BDL-EWR round trip on ATR 42's is a B fare. I can't imagine what the Y fare cost.

Why would you fly that anyway??? That can be driven in 2 1/2 hours or so...by the time you get to BDL a little early for the flight...check in...board and fly....it could have been driven.

You can determine the fare type by clicking on the "Rules" of the fare. As far as the type of fare that you get when you use CO O.L., it's probably the least expensive of the available fares.

Well, I suggest you check the box in part 3 under the Coach/FirstClass toggle that says:
Avoid most change penalties.
C.o.o.l will show fare classes as mentioned by clinking on rules. However, you must first click on the details prompt first.

I'm not sure why it matters for this particular flight. The only reason one might want a Y fare is to upgrade at ticketing, but you can't upgrade in a ATR.

I wantthe Y fare because it's refundable and I can also change flights without any change fees. My plans change at the last minute often.

I like to fly Y fares whenever possible so to assure an immediate upgrade. However, most of the time online booking will produce a Q fare, even if I check all the boxes (refundable, changeable, etc.). It would be great if the COOL site would add a checkbox where we could indicate a desire for a Y fare. Wonder if anyone is listening?
