EUA on NW flights
How has the experience been for CO elites flying NW flights? I read in the NW forum that they were getting upgraded on CO flights. Is NW doing the same thing CONSISTENTLY for CO elites?

I've been on 5 NWA flights recently and been upgraded on all of them. Four flights way before departure and 1 flight on standby at the gate.

Jaws,
Wow, you mean as a CO elite you were ticketed NW on NW metal and were upgraded?
That surprises me as last OP rep I spoke with said their systems didn't allow such interline communication.
Glad to hear this!

I've been nice to the NWA people, and they've been nice to me.

I have been upgraded on 4 Northwest segments as a CO silver simply by calling the Elite line. Out of the two times I called, only one agent said that upgrades were automatic - others put me on hold and came back within 5-6 minutes with comfirmed upgrades.

Good question... I've been following all these NW/CO threads closely because I'm an Alaska Airlines MVP who is usually based out of ORD...
All kinds of chances to EARN elite qualifying miles (AA, NW and AS's ANC/ORD flight) but not much chance for my elite status to be recognized.
I would use NW's program, but being based in a non-hub city, I get quite a few segments. I don't want to lose the chance to earn status based on segments.
I've been considering using CO's comp to equal tier program (silver, in my case) and then flying NW because I don't want to get bitten by EUA.
Any thoughts?

I still phone in (required I think) for OP upgrades on NW metal. But now, the CO agents can directly assess the NW system, without having to phone to a NW agent, a big improvement. 3 for 3 on NW since EUA (and 3 for 5 on CO).

RWINN: I would send a copy of your MVP card & statement to CO & get comped elite status there. Then fly NW & CO when you can and get to auto upgrades. I've had no problem on CO, NW or HP getting upgrades EVERYTIME I FLY.

As a OnePass Platinum I am usually upgraded on CO, NW, and HP, the problem with HP is when your flight goes back to the gate with mechanical problems, then is canceled, then there is no FC seat available on the next flight. It has happened to me on 2 of my last 3 trips!!!

Thanks for the tip! That's kind of what I was thinking. CO seems pretty open to making elite status available to me. NW said they MIGHT consider it... but I like the idea of being able to qualify with segments so I'm kind of leanining towards CO and one of their packs with upgrades and stuff.
Do you know if it's true that CO elites don't get premium seating on NW? I've had good luck getting prem seating on NW with my Alaska MP number. Row 10 on a 757 is nice if I can't get into first.

It is very unusual for a CO Platinum not to get an upgrade on NW. It has only happened to me once since the alliance on more than 30 flights. However, unless things have changed in the past two weeks, you still need to make the midnight call to CO in order to get the seat.
Again, if there has been no recent change, CO Elites do not get premium seating on NW flights, but the fact that the NW computer assigns you something like 23E is largely academic, because you always (well, almost always) will end up in front. The one time that I did not get the upgrade, the NW agent at the airport suggested that I might like the exit row aisle seat before I even asked for it as I always do.
